Some rashes are more stubborn than the most powerful diaper rash cream. This is what works.
For most babies, Balmex and Desitin really does the job and quickly clears up the standard rash. Sometimes, though, diaper rash is more stubborn. These persistent types of rashes might appear when your baby is teething, or if there’s a dairy allergy.
Of course, first try the standard route. Change the diaper extra often, making sure it’s always dry, adding new diaper cream with each change.
When the standard route doesn’t work, though, this may be your answer. Note that if the rash is pimply, this will not work. Of course, first discuss with your doctor when trying any new treatment.
Diaper Rash Cream Recipe:
One Part Balmex + One Part Bacitracin/Bactroban + One Part Aquaphor
Note that Bactroban is available by prescription only, but Bacitracin is the over the counter version. Mupirocin is the generic name.
Mix and apply; change your baby often as you usually would when treating any diaper rash.

Don’t forget triple paste! Best cream for diaper rashes
Mushky says
Thank you for this post! For yeast related rashes, French Green Clay Powder (in powder form, carried in pharmacies and on amazon) works incredibly well. We used it on our kids when all other creams failed.

Agreed. Triple paste is by far the best. Most pediatricians recommend it. Always works!

Does it have to be Balmex or would any diaper rash cream work?

Hi, this is no advert or anything. My baby thank G-D never really came up with a real heavy rash so far, B”H. As soon as I see redness I give him some of this wool into his nappy. A friend recommended it to me and it works wonders. I have noooooo idea how this works, but it’s the best. It’s natural, I just read you can actually also wash and reuse it. I can’t apply a cream on shabbes so this wool is a life saver.

This is from Germany but I am sure there must be something similar in USA!
All the best

I totally agree! My babies butt just doesn’t take any creams. He has a huge pimple on it and her can’t sleep. I ca’t deal with butts. They give me so much trouble. Actually I give him miralx in his bottle and he doesn’t poop as much but his diaper rashes are crazy
mom says
Yesss! My baby’s butt is as red as it gets. He has a lot of small pimples and he can’t sit. I’m also looking for a new diaper brand. They are super itchy and he is always itching his butt. He poops so much that I change his diaper ten times a day! My daughter also poops in her bed and I have to get up every night to change her linen. Do you mind doing an article on how to stop pooping in bed? We love your articles. They always are right on spot! Keep up the great work!

Best treatment EVER! From my pediatrician:
Raw egg white!! It’s amazing! Gloop it on. Let it dry for a minute (blowing it helps). Add diaper cream if you wish but not necessary. Voila! By next diaper change, baby will be as good as new.
