Einei Haloshon is the incredible program teaching your children how to understand Lashon HaKodesh (read our other reviews, here and here). Because this program requires both a financial and time commitment, we decided to test it out on one of our team members’ children. After seeing his unbelievable improvements in translating Lashon HaKodesh first-hand while completing Einei Haloshon’s program, we were so excited that such a program exists.
We opened the floor to questions, and here were yours, answered.
Q. What age range is this for?
- It’s for ages 9+. A 13 year old will learn it quicker, gain more and see results faster than a 9 year old. The older the person is the more appreciation they’ll have for what the program is.
Q. Can an adult use it to develop their fluency in Lashon HaKodesh?
- Yes, a 40 year old wrote to Einei Haloshon saying that the ads are targeting kids and they need to create ads for adults.
Q. What skills does a child need before starting this?
- Once they’re reading and have kriah down-pat, then they can work on the translating.
Q. Does the program require internet?
- You need internet to set it up, then the rest is offline. Or, you can pick up a computer rental set up with the program from their Brooklyn office.
Q. My kids school has the school version. Is the home version different?
- Schools use printed papers, at home it’s a computer system. For kids struggling, at school they need to write words down which slows them down and makes it more tedious. On a computer it’s much easier to click words, plus there’s instant feedback if you made a mistake.
Q. If my child has difficulty reading, is this program for him?
- It’s hard to judge based on the question alone. A few kids have improved their reading with the program, but some still needed to practice more before starting. For everyone, the first few sessions are free. And BCP readers can email Einei Haloshon and request a longer trial period if their child’s reading is slow.
Q. What havarah is it in?
- There are no sounds, so any havarah works! In addition, there are English and Yiddish programs. (English speaking households with kids speaking Yiddish at school should choose English! Reach out to us and we’ll explain why.)
Q. Can this program teach Hebrew?
- It doesn’t teach vocabulary. It teachers how to read and understand proper grammar and how to read and understand a pasuk.
Q. Is it fun?
- Not as fun as a computer game! But it’s a lot more enjoyable than a tutor or workbooks.
Q. Is it a good idea for a child that isn’t super self motivated?
- If your child isn’t self-motivated, expect to have to sit with him/her. We did it for an average of 20-25 minutes a day for 6 days a week. We asked Rabbi Friedman from Einei Haloshon about bribery or prizes. He suggested only using it if neccessary. Once a child starts the program he/she will become more self-motivated since they’re understanding and learning more and more.
Q. What’s the program cost?
- Use code BCP23 for 20% off. The cost is $1500 before the code and $1200 after. This is why we tested it extensively, and did the math! A tutor adds up and may not get the same results.
Q. Will it teach my child to read Pesukim and Rashis?
- It won’t teach Rashi letters or how to read. But if comprehension is the issue, then it will definitely help.
Just a reminder, Einei Haloshon is so sure that they can help your child (and don’t forget to start with the free screener to see if they’re a good candidate), that they offer their program risk-free. If after the first 5 lessons you don’t see any improvement, they offer a full refund. That being said, we’re thrilled with our results, and hope you will be too!
