Want your toy closet and pantry not just to get organized, but to stay organized? In this 4-part series, we visit different parts of the house where labels are very, very welcome.
I couldn’t have an entire “labeling obsession” week without including the obvious ways one should compulsively use their label maker – the toy closet and pantry.
An organized pantry is so inspiring. It makes me want to cook.
I like having my containers labeled so that I know, at a glance, what’s running low. Each box has its purpose and order is (for the most part) easily maintained.
I have the same system in the toy closet. There, I also added a label on the shelf where the coordinating box belongs. This is a way to ensure your closet remains the same as when you first organized it.
Here you see my magazine dividers. You learned about this idea here, where I discuss how to keep the thin books (Curious George, Berenstein Bears….) in control.
Hope you enjoyed my tips. Please do share with me any other ideas. I need to figure out what else I can label!

Thank you for sharing! I am now inspired. Thank you for solving the toy dilemma. Time to label the shelves. Not sure which is more genius, that or the hubby file I must buy tomorrow.

Love this! Where’s the best-cheapest place to buy the pantry containers?
Renee Muller says
I have recently seen them in Costco. But they are sold everywhere…. Marshall’s is the best place, price wise.

What sizes did u use for the OXO containers?
Renee Muller says
I have all sizes. Larger sizes for sugar, flour, beans and pasta. Medium sizes for chocolate chips, brown sugar, rice, lentils and such. The small ones are good for nuts, seeds, coconut flakes etc. You need to know what your family needs and use all sizes. And, of course, only the squares! neater and much more space efficient!

my oldest is only 5 so the bins in my toy closet have pictures on them instead of words. i printed black and white pictures for my girls to color in and like this they know which bin it goes into. I also only let 2-3 bins at a time, although dolls and carraiges are always out for them to use…its an all girls house here:-)
