Mekor Hachinuch works behind-the-scenes helping children with learning differences mainstream in our schools. Learn about what they do below.
Mekor HaChinuch is a hidden gem. They’ve been quietly servicing our community and helping our children for years and years under the radar.
Mekor HaChinuch helps students with educational challenges attend our community’s mainstream schools in parallel classes. When you picture a child struggling with academics, it’s rarely academics alone. More often than not, academic challenges come along with challenges with self-esteem, feelings of failure, and difficulties with friendships, among so many others.
So instead of adding yet another hurdle for these kids, Mekor Hachinuch removes the biggest one. Mekor HaChinuch has classrooms in boys and girls schools across Lakewood, enabling students with learning differences to proudly say what school they go to, instead of whispering.
They can go to the same schools as their cousins and neighbors. They work harder than any of us can probably imagine, and then they slowly mainstream.
So why haven’t you heard of Mekor HaChinuch before? Mekor Hachinuch has been in operation for 17 years, and its’ owners took achrayus to fundraise quietly, so the kids benefitting shouldn’t be spoken about, and shouldn’t have the stigma. But now, Mekor HaChinuch is going public for the first time.
The quality of education that Mekor HaChinuch gives each student costs money. Between the smaller class sizes, the individualized curriculum, the specialized services, and so much more, tuition costs more than for the average student.
