From keeping your ears healthy, to maintaining cleaner earrings, to preventing losing them…these little tricks will help.
- Miracle Lobe
When you’re wearing an earring that’s a little heavier than your ear is accustomed to, these stickers prevent them from getting stretched. Once you try these, your ears won’t want to go without them! Even with just regular earrings, they help reduce the strain of earrings and keep your ears looking healthier.
- Store Earrings on Your Sweater
Do you always misplace your earrings when taking them off at odd times?

Affix them on your sweater (this might not work with a sweater that has big holes/a very chunky knit) and they won’t get lost.

Then, you can put them back on when ready.
- Keep Alcohol Wipes on Hand

Keep these little packets next to your jewelry box so you are more likely to clean your earrings regularly.
- Keep Your Jewelry Clean
There’s two jewelry cleaning solutions here.

One is a simple cleaning solution that comes with a little brush – simply dip in and agitate to clean.

If you’re looking for a machine recommendation, we like this one that does the agitation job for you, is easy to use, and does a good thorough job.

Use a toothbrush after cleaning to get into the crevices.
- Keep Extra Backs on Hand!
You know you always need them! How many times do you not wear a pair or lose a pair (after putting them aside somewhere) because of a missing back? Replace the back immediately from your stash and you’re good to go.

Any ideas for my two year old who is always pulling out her earrings and whose ears are sensitive?
Have another hack to add cut a piece of band aid and put behind your earring hole to prevent it from hanging does the trick perfectly.
Add a dot of nail polish to the back of the earring when you put in backing. It doesn’t touch the ear and it keeps the backing secure- like it’s glued to the earring- and will not fall off. Perfect for toddlers or little girls who touch their earrings. Works like a charm every time!!
On a similar topic, any recommendations of earrings for super sensitive skin?? Assuming that my girls have a nickel allergy but even real gold doesn’t work.
I have the same thing. For years I had this issue. I recently went to Gemberry in Jackson and the owner told me something that finally worked. I only wear earrings with hoop closures so that the back doesn’t squeeze the ear. He also told me that for the first 5 days of wearing a new earring, put on Bacitracin twice a day and do not remove the earrings. If you remove them, start the 5 days again.
Also as an adult with sensitive ears, I had my studs made with platinum instead of gold which I can tolerate. Otherwise I dip my posts into 18k gold and that helps. But as a child I always wore European wire earrings as the owner in gemberry also suggested. And always 18k gold… and backtracin…:)
I had years ago with my oldest daughter who only had teal gold earrings and got an infection. My neighbor told me to only buy sterling silver leverback earrings which work fantastic! Bonus, they’re very cheap on Amazon.
great jewelry cleaning hack: combine equal amounts of peroxide and ammonia and let jewelry sit for approx. 10 seconds. Comes out sparkling every time.
Be careful about putting earings on a sweater – you don’t want to foget to put them back on and have them get lost in the laundry. A trick I have used many times – take your watch off and put your earings through 2 of the holes. I have done this multiple times when I stayed by guest over shobbos and didnt have a jewlery tray /box to place my jewlery in.
