ReadBrights Take-Home Backpacks are how we’re avoiding the ‘summer slide,’ with our kids’ stamp of approval! All the details, below.
How do you feel about summer homework?
Yup, we thought so. We feel the same way.
Summer is for learning… but learning how to swim, how to grill, how to get along on family trips, etc etc! Still, we can’t deny the effect that these 10 weeks of non-academic learning has on our kids school-related skills. So, we found the best of both worlds. A way to maintain (and improve!) our early learner’s reading skills without even a hint of that ‘homework-y’ feeling? Sign us up!

Meet the ReadBright Take-Home Backpack! Picture a cute drawstring bag, filled with everything your early reader needs to take their reading to the next level. Each bag comes with decodable readers: really adorable, engaging books for your child to read. These books really set ReadBright apart: these are books that target phonics skills, but are fun for the kids to read. There’s also a fun workbook and reader progress chart for your child to check off on their own and mark their progress.
There are 4 levels, and 4 corresponding backpacks, depending on your child’s current level. Each backpack builds on the skills of the one before it: working on phonics mastery and comprehension skills using engaging stories. This is an amazing resource you can use to help keep your child’s reading skills on-par over the summer, and a really fun way to practice their reading and supplement their in-school reading during the year.

The Level 1 Backpack is for grades K-1, Level 2 Backpack is for grades 1-2, Level 3 Backpack is also for grades 1-2 (more advanced skills than Level 2), and Level 4 Backpack is for grades 2-3. Reach out to ReadBright by email at read@readbright.com or by phone at (732) 569-0699 for any questions!
We have personal experience with ReadBright too. One team member said, ‘The ReadBright books are a constant in my house! As each child learned to read, they enjoyed them over and over again. They were the perfect bridge during that time to transition them from learning to reading big chapter books. As each child grows, they’re pulled off the bookshelf again and again. There’s real skills being learned as each child transitions from level to level. And they read with joy!’
ReadBright Take-Home Backpacks are the perfect antidote to help your early-elementary child avoid the ‘summer slide.’ The books are clear, enjoyable to read, and really help your child develop and improve their reading skills (great for year-round practice too!).
