Career Coach Faige Katz shares her top 3 tips to get your daughter on the path to success. Learn more about Faige at www.career360.net, and read on for her tips!
Up until now, your daughters’ (or sons!) life path has been pretty clear-cut. You chose the same elementary school as her siblings and neighbors, elementary school led to high school, and high school guided her towards seminary (or him towards yeshiva). Now, it’s time for the next step, and it’s a big one!
With so many options, choosing a career can be daunting! Should she get a degree? Is online training enough? Which program should she invest in? Where should she start?! Here, career coach Faige Katz weighs in on the top three things you can do to help your daughter transition to the next stage.
- Look for an entry-level job. Will her first job be the perfect job? Probably not. But any work experience is valuable at this point: she’ll gain independence, start making some money on her own, and get work experience to put on her resume. Of course, if she has an idea of what field she wants to go into, she should look for a job or internship within that industry.
- Take a career aptitude test. No, not a free online test (free until you want to see the results!) Not all career tests are created equal. The Highlands Ability Battery is the gold standard in career aptitude testing.

Together with a qualified and experienced career coach, the coaching process is so much more than ‘what she should do.’ It’s really a journey of self-discovery.
She’ll gain clarity about who she is, her inner talents, the types of situations she’ll thrive in, and how to maximize the unique kochos she has. A career coach will steer her to training and job opportunities that will complement her strengths and interests. It’s the best investment in her future. - Speak to people in the field you’re interested in. If she’s dabbling between two or three ideas (like special ed, BCBA, or speech), reach out to people she knows in the field and find out more information. Most people would be happy to speak to your daughter and answer the questions really on her mind: what the day-to-day looks like, earning potential, if they enjoy working in the field, and different environments she could work in.
