Did you know that you can make a chocolate chip cookie in the microwave?
My children are the ones who taught me this cookie hack.
My freezer is usually stocked with chocolate chip cookie dough. I buy the Nana Rachel’s box, although some of you might keep your own dough in the freezer like Renee Muller does here.
When my kids want cookies (let’s say dinner isn’t ready yet…or we’re out of cereal for breakfast…or we need a dessert or, or, or…there’s lots of excuses for cookies) they place a cookie (or two) onto a microwave-safe plate and zap.
A minute later, they have a hot, fresh cookie that they eat with a spoon.
It’s so much more enjoyable than room temperature cookies! (I know because I take a bite if they leave any over.)
Every microwave is different, so you can play around with cooking times to see the amount of time it takes to get the cookie the way you like it, whether gooey, soft yet firm, or crispy.
You can also use this hack to serve dessert when you need something in a pinch on a weekday (forgot it’s someone’s Hebrew birthday?). Top your hot cookies with a scoop of ice cream and it’s restaurant-worthy.
Just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth
I pop one (or two!) into rye Betty Crocker on a piece of parchment paper… ????
*the Betty Crocker
I tried this today… put cookie dough on a plastic plate and almost burned my house down. There was so much smoke coming out of my microwave- I have no idea what went wrong!
You need to use a microwave-safe plate. Says above! Ceramic/glass etc.
