Because nothing says “summer” like bubbles…and a whole lot of mess. A simple trick to keep the fun going—and the soap off your patio.
Do you find yourself standing in the yard every spring, yelling “DON’T SPILL IT!” before the bubble fun has even begun?
Spoiler: they spill it. Every. Single. Time.
Doesn’t matter if you buy the jumbo size, the “no-spill” container, or try holding it for them (which lasts all of two minutes).
You know how it goes: they dip once, maybe twice, and then—oops. Game over. Sticky, soapy mess. Crying. Refill. Repeat.
One BCP reader finally had enough. She snapped. But like, in a productive, mom-hack kind of way.
Instead of banning bubbles for the rest of the season (tempting, right?), she came up with the simplest fix. She took the bubble container, placed it on the ground next to a porch railing, and used duct tape to keep it in place.
We loved the idea—but weren’t so crazy about the tape residue it left behind.

So, we tried a cleaner version: a zip tie. And it worked just as well too!

The bottle stays upright, secure, and best of all—totally unspillable.

Now? They can dip, blow, giggle, and repeat without hovering or refilling 400 times.

One zip tie. Endless bubble fun. Zero stress.
(Zip ties can be a strangulation hazard. Please keep them out of reach of children.)
Bubbles are officially back on the approved summer activities list.
What a super effective and simple solution!
P.s. I love the kippah and tzizit, too! When I see your posts they always make me so happy! You are so insightful and with such great ideas. Thanks from a grandkid enriching baba!
Brilliance. Utter brilliance. Kudos to the mom who got creative instead of getting mad, and a HUGE thank you for sharing!!!
Thanks for the great idea!! Now can we have a post on the bubble stains when the bubbles pop on the clothes!?!?! Those gray stains from commercial bubble mixture that don’t come out….
I heard that on days u use bubbles wash the clothes first with NO detergent. It’s the reaction of bubble solution and detergent that causes the stain. Didn’t try it so don’t know if it works but worth trying!
wow! that is genius!!
Absolutely genius in its simplicity.
Thanks for sharing!
wow thanks. i was almost gonna ban bubbles cuz it didn’t stop spilling!!!
Love how such a simple solution is an absolute game changer! Smart mom out there! Thanks for sharing!
