And you don’t have to spend too much! Try on a pair of spare glasses at Zenni.com
If your son/daughter wears eyeglasses, you will know that you spent a nice amount of time in your life:
- looking for a lost pair of glasses .
- fixing a pair (driving to the store and back, waiting for the repair…)
- getting phone calls from Yeshiva or school: “Maaaaaaa my glasses broke!”
And, if your child will be traveling to seminary or Yeshiva, you know for sure that it’s imperative to have a spare pair of glasses.
Did you know that you can order that spare pair online? Yes! You can pick glasses online, it’s really easy. And it’s inexpensive too.
Hold that thought. You knew you could buy glasses online, but never considered it because you or your child needs to try on a gazillion pairs before finally choosing one. Online would never work, right?
There’s two answers. First, we said this is a good solution for a backup pair (by all means, stay local for your primary pair!). Second, this website here allows you to “try on” glasses online! Yes! This website uses incredible technology that allows you to try the glasses on a moving image (you can see how they look from every angle!) of your face, thus helping you decide if the glasses suit you or not.
You’ll love it so much, you’ll even want to try on glasses for fun.
You will need your child’s prescription. If you don’t have one handy, call your opthamologist and they will be happy to help you out. We found the site to be easy to use and quick to deliver.

Liingo is an even similar site that will ship you frames to try on for free! You’ll even get a return shipping box and label to send it back, and as long as you ship it back within the return time frame, you won’t be charged. Check it out!

The problem I find with these sites is that they ask for a certain number than isn’t listed on the prescription. How do you get that?

It is called your PD, the distance between your pupils. Zenni actually shows you how to measure it yourself. Been ordering from zenni for years! Love them!

You can also call your eye dr and ask them for your PD. They generally have it on file. My son has a very atypical prescription, so I was very hesitant. Started ordering only for his spare glasses originally. we’ve BH done well with zenni!

Thanks for this info! Would anyone know if these sites do well with prism lenses?
