Moshe Alpert gave us a behind-the-scenes peek at how he created a financial plan that took his clients from ‘confused’ to ‘focused!’
‘People come to me for all sorts of reasons,’ explained Moshe Alpert, certified financial planner and CEO of Ceremian Financial, ‘but the most common reason is to get a handle on their money. They have all these financial pieces: income, expenses, investments, mortgage, etc etc, and just don’t have the clarity of how all the pieces fit together. Because we were curious what working with Ceremian looks like, Moshe pulled back the curtain for us to see how he helps the puzzle pieces fit together.
‘This couple came to me because they needed help making sense of their financial picture. On paper, they were doing fine. But they had some large expenses on the horizon, plus a dream: to purchase an apartment in Eretz Yisroel. They needed help managing what they had, from someone who understood the ‘frum’ culture they are part of.’
‘When people first come to me, they fill out a comprehensive intake form. I speak to them and gather all their relevant financial information. In this case, I saw that they were managing on a month-to-month basis, but were still completely unclear on the big picture. I created a presentation to break down their money for them, what they had, what their goals were, their expenses, their insurance, their dreams. And then, we developed a clear strategy to hit their goals. The plan was understandable and actionable. They now knew what they needed to do, and that clarity alone brought them so much peace. They also implemented quarterly reviews to check in on the plan and make any tweaks if needed. Instead of putting out fires, now they’re working on a positive plan.’
