A little touch to add some freshness…even in the trash can!
Generally, we are not fans of “masking smells.” If it smells it means you need to clean it, not cover it up with some perfumed scent. But, there are some areas that naturally have… smells.
Sometimes worse than others.
Yes, the trash can, sneakers, and recycling bin will sometimes smell. Here is a way to add some fresh scent without overpowering.

You will need a felt pad, the type used under chairs and furniture, you might even have some leftover at home, and some essential oil – like this one here (smells so good!)

You can either place some drops of the scented oil on the felt pad first and then stick it where you want it, or do it the other way around. Adhere the felt pad first and then pour a few drops of essential oil over it.

Either way you do it you will achieve a welcome scent every time you open the trash can or go place your child’s sneakers on the shelf again. And if the smell wears out, simply add a few drops of oil and you will have replenished the scent once again.
Try charcoal bags! They absorb scent. I leave them in my entry closet (lots of shoes!) and anywhere that gets a musty smell.
Genius idea!
