ICA’s Fashion Design program can take you from fashionista to clothing designer, ready to create your own line. Find out more by contacting the Institute of Career Advancement, here.
Over the years, you’ve seen us feature lots of different careers. Different people have different talents, interests and abilities; it goes without saying that we’re not all cut out to be teachers, therapists, or accountants.
Today’s career is something we’ve never featured: fashion design. Have you always wondered how the clothing in your favorite store just landed there, ready to shop? Do you have a passion for design and style? Are you intrigued at the thought of sketching, analyzing trends, and constructing garments/collections? Interested in working for a clothing brand, or developing your own?
ICA’s (Institute of Career Advancement) Fashion Design program may be the perfect place for you. This course takes place in-person, in Brooklyn, Monsey, and Lakewood. And you don’t need any experience, or any prior knowledge of fashion design. This course gives you the skills and knowledge for you to be able to design your own collection and open your own clothing line.
So here’s what you’ll learn:
- Creative Design: This is the fun part! Learn sketching, illustrating, how to create a mood board, trend-analysis, and how to form a collection.
- Technical Design: Creativity may be the most fun, but here’s where you’ll learn the technique to make your designs come to life. Learn about fabrics, garment construction, and about tech-pack fundamentals. Learn the legal side of fashion and all the components of the production process.
- Business Management: To be a successful fashion designer, you’ll need this. This is where you’ll learn branding, marketing, and production.
This course covers so much more than these three short points! It’s a super interactive program, with lots of ‘extra’s’ to give you a really amazing education in fashion design. Clothing brands host workshops, there are trips to learn more, and there’s lots of engagement. You graduate with a full portfolio and ready to take on the fashion world.
