It’s your worksheet for knowing exactly what you need to buy and cook, day by day of the week.
I know that most of us make it to Shabbos every week without a worksheet like this, but I find it very helpful. It’s grounding. I don’t need to think. All I need to do is fill in the blanks. So, if I find that there are some weeks when my head is not screwed on completely, all I need to do is take out my blank worksheet and fill in my main dish.

We are starting you off with a blank spreadsheet like this. It will open in a view only document, you need to select File, Download and then customize it to be your own. Click here to get the Planner on Google docs.

Here’s a basic sample for a standard Shabbos (not mine, but maybe more similar to yours). What you need to first do is fill out your own categories, and the things that stay the same from week to week, the dishes you make, the groceries you need to buy fresh, and the day of the week that you do the prep. After you fill in all your “every week” things, you can print out a bunch of copies.

Then, each week, you sit down with your Shabbos Planner and fill out the things that change from week to week. The main that you like to make differently each week, the dessert….fill out the dish, the grocery items you’ll need, and when you’ll actually do the task.
Then, when you’re at the grocery, you scan down your grocery list and you know what you’ll need for Shabbos, without missing a thing. When you want to start prepping, you’ll know exactly what you need to get done that night, and what’s better off being done another time.
The columns at the top are also editable, so if you don’t start preparing on Wednesday, but you would like a column for “Costco” you can change that. Or, if you buy your meat at the same place that you buy your groceries, you can take out the “butcher” column and replace it with something else. You can instead add a “Tuesday” column and spread the tasks out even more.
We included a “Friday Grocery” column, because there’s always the things you either way to buy fresh, the things you didn’t know you needed, the things that you ran out of without realizing, or the things that weren’t available when you were shopping earlier in the week…those last minute items get a fresh list that’s easy to reference at the end.
Yes, this is for specific types. It’s either not your thing, you don’t understand how someone will want to use this, or you’ll completely love it. We get that!
Make two versions and alternate between them each week to take the stress out of planning. Plug and play! Automation gives so much more time and frees up precious mental space. It’s reassuring to have something like this on hand even if it’s not used every week. So helpful when weeks go crazy, kids helping prep, or when unwell and having to source out.
love it! ever since victoria posted a similar method using sheets online, I’ve been using it to plan every single Yom Tov! Total game changer and love that I can easily go back to the previous year to check it out! I use your other Shabbos planner every week, it’s also great with the grocery list and day by day boxes, love that it’s organized according to meal component. Thanks so much for improving Shabbos and Yom Tov prep for so many!!!!
I love how you were wrote that it’s not for every type of person and that’s okay 🙂 awesome help for the people that it helps and others can just move on. Thanks for all of the helpful posts
