4 Fun Places to Enjoy the Outdoors This Fall – Central New Jersey
Missing summer activities? The fall brings in new ways to have some family fun outdoors, and you
During Chol Hamoed, Between Carpools posted this post by Sarah Einhorn on farms to enjoy this fall.If you live in Central New Jersey and want some more local options, these are great places to check out! The fall is a short season that we don’t always get to make the most out of. Take a look around your neighborhood farms and parks, they may look very different than in the summer. The trees have changed colors, Sunflowers are blooming. The farms are setup with outdoor games, corn mazes, hay rides, and many photo props to create memories. Here is a list of my favorite places to go in the fall.
Happy Day Farm
Happy Day Farm is open weekends, Friday thru Sunday, for their fall festival. There is so much to do, over 35 activities children and adults will love!
You can start at the giant slide, animal feedings, pig racing, and tractor pull.
Next move over to the tire swings, duck racing, horse bouncers and pedal carts. Then take the Tractor ride over to the pumpkinville and sunflower field.
Take the tractor ride again and get off at the corn maze. There’s a blow up corn maze for the kids. There’s also some giant games to play: Jenga, guess who, checkers and bowling. Many more activities we could not get to them all in one day!
All week long, the sunflower farm and pumpkinville are open. Come dressed your best as it is a great place for photos. In the sunflower field there are colorful doors, an old dresser, a truck, and a swing to be used as photo props. There is a bridge to walk on and get a scenic overlook of the field. You can pick the sunflowers and pay (cash only) at the end. At Pumpkinville there are wooden wagons to help you get around with little kids. There are a few structures built with pumpkins, a swing, an old truck and a pumpkin patch that are also great for photos.
They say “Why fly to Holland When You can drive there?” Holland Ridge Farms feels like some place way out in the distant, not a 30 minute drive from Lakewood, NJ! The fields are full of sunflowers. Did you know they grow in different colors, not just yellow? There is also white, red, and multi-color. They have setup throughout the fields some photo props and backdrops.
The view is magnificent as it is an open field with neat rows of flowers. Grab a bucket and clippers to pick your own flowers. Cost is only $1 per stem. They make a great bouquet for your Shabbos table. They also have a hay ride that drives around the farm.

Atlantic Farm
It’s a great place to soak up the fall season at Atlantic Farm. You can catch a hay ride, get lost in the corn maze and jump in the bounce houses. Then head to the animals. There are cows, goats, alpacas, sheep, and turkeys. Feeding the animals is available for additional cost. Take a ride in the barrel cars. There are some games to play, bowling, connect 4, and bean bag toss.
