Did You Know That Montreal Is Known for Its Beautiful Parks?

Once the weather gets warm, everyone in Montreal can’t wait to get outdoors… and spend time in a park.
Here are 21 beautiful places to enjoy the weather with your family.

Montreal is known for its beautiful parks. Once summer arrives, the city is green and it’s beautiful to spend the time outdoors after being stuck inside all winter. As the weather starts to warm, we are really enjoying the ability to spend quality time in our beautiful city.

Here is a list of some parks (it is absolutely impossible to list them all, there is one on literally every block). Hope you find one that suits your needs and you enjoy it as much as we do!

If you know of any other great ones that I missed, feel free to add them in the comments.

Note that some activities/areas might be unavailable due to Covid restrictions.

Old Port

Old Port is a popular tourist destination with lots of activities for all ages. You can easily spend more than a day on the grounds. Some of the activities include: quadricycle rentals, paddle boat rentals, Segway tours, a science museum with IMAX theater, an indoor Labyrinth, zipline, ferris wheel, childrens ropes course, and much more. You can almost always find street shows as well as horse-and-buggies parked on the street waiting for customers to take on tours around the old city. It’s an enchanting place to discover old Montreal.

Cote Des Neiges corner Kent

This park has a great sprinkler areaa, playground area, and plenty of greenery with picnic tables, however, this is on a busy street with lots of pedestrian and automobile traffic.

Address 3220 Avenue Appleton, Montréal, QC H3S 2T3

Outremont Park (Bloomfield corner Saint Viateur)

Outremont Park has a playground as well as a large green area with benches and picnic tables. There is a beautiful pond to walk around which makes for a great Shabbos afternoon walk!

Stuart Park (Stuart corner Saint Viateur):

Stuart Park is pretty local and has a great playground, divided in two parts. One part has sand and the other has wood chips. One set of toys is geared to the younger ages and one set of toys is for the older children. They also have a mountain, some courts and a little pond with picnic tables nearby for a nice supper. The latest addition is a sprinkler park which makes it a great all day park.

Bloomfield Park (Bloomfield corner Bernard)

Bloomfield Park is a great local park. There is a sandy playground area for kids, a beautiful lake to walk around and skate on in the winter, and plenty of room for picnics and relaxing. There is a bridge to bring you to the other side of the water which also makes for great outdoor photoshoots. This park hosts some public events throughout the year such as a small scale snow festival, an art display, and other events.

Mount Royal-Beaver Lake

Mount Royal-Beaver Lake is an area. They have a lake which rents boats in the summer and becomes a skating rink in the winter. Many people also use it as their exercise track to walk or bike around. There is a playground with lots of great climbing toys as well as many tables for beautiful picnics or good old-fashioned fun like rolling down the large mountain (sled down in the wintertime).

Pratt Park (Pratt corner Lajoie)

Pratt Park is a great park for taking photos; many a bar mitzvah bochur and kallah will remember having their pictures taken at this park. It has a small pond as well as a beautiful bridge.

Jean Brilliant park

Another great playground area with lots of green space. There is a nicely fenced-in sprinkler area as well. Bring along play equipment for the older ones to play ball rope or Frisbee.

Address 5252 Decelles Ave, Montreal, Quebec H3T 1N8

Lachine Canal Park

Located in Lasalle, this is a beautiful green area to walk or bike on where you have a gorgeous view of the rapids on the Lachine Canal. Highly recommended for a date night walk in the summer when it gets dark late.

Jean Drapeau

Jean Drapeau is a very large popular park. It’s famous for the biosphere located on grounds which was built as an exhibit at the World Fair in 1967 as well as its annual hosting of the Fete Des Neiges Festival. There are many events throughout the year. There is a big aquatic complex, a new tram to take you on a tour of the park, Segway tours, canoe and kayak rentals, and picnic areas. Inside the biosphere, there are interactive activities about the environment which are really interesting.

Queen Elizabeth (Sherbrooke corner Wood, Westmount)

This is a cute little playground with picnic space near medical buildings so it’s perfect for before or after an appointment with the kiddos.

Clark Park (St Urbain corner Van Horne)

Clark Park is a beautiful large park with a great playground as well as a full bike path for the older kids to ride around while the younger kids enjoy the playground activities. There is a nice gazebo with picnic tables for some shade in the otherwise sunny park. There are also 2-3 sprinklers on the side but they are on the older side and somehow not as exciting.

Darlington Place (Darlington corner Darlington Place)

Really small, usually empty sprinkler park with very little other area around. Perfect for that afternoon activity and as a treat, you can have dinner at Taty’s Pizza across the street when you’re done!

Romeo Charette (Jean Talon corner Laird)

This has a beautiful green area to relax in with picnic space and a great playground area for children.

Pine Beach Park

Pine Beach Park is a beautiful park area, with lots of green space and benches/large swings for adults. It’s near an airport so children enjoy watching planes take off and land. There is also a playground area for children to play. The best part about this park, for me, is the little docks where you can go sit and even dip your feet into the beautiful St Lawrence River.

Centennial Park

Large green grounds with a man-made lake. There’s a playground with a couple of benches as well as a small mountain that is fun to climb up and roll down.

Laval Nature Center

This great place includes a little farmhouse which makes it extra exciting. They sometimes have a little train ride or pony rides available. Often in the summertime, there are different festivals going on on the grounds. Great place to spend a day with some bikes and a picnic basket for lunch!

Nathan Shuster Park

This is by far one of the most entertaining parks for kids of all ages. There’s so many activities and even a Zipline! There are beautiful grounds including a gazebo.

Address 6552 Chemin Collins, Côte Saint-Luc, QC H4W 3B7

La Fontaine Park

This is a really large park with a nice-sized lake, which for me is always a win. You can bike around the lake or just sit on the benches dotting the area. Pack along a picnic lunch and you’ve got yourself a great day!

Address 3819 Avenue Calixa-Lavallée, Montréal, QC H2L 3A7

Oka

Oka is not all that local but there’s a beach! Though Montreal is an island, beaches are rare. Oka is a national park, which charges entrance fee/parking fees but if you’re spending the day there it is well worth the few dollars.
