You think you’ll remember those cute things they said, but you know that you will one day forget. Here are some ideas and ways to save your “Mommy Memories” so you and your children can look back and enjoy!
As I was reading this post on Winter Wins for Your Marriage recently on Between Carpools, when I got to the part about keeping a “memory jar,” it reminded me of the virtual memory jar I keep to store my cute family moments.
Kids always say the cutest things. We share them and laugh about them in the moment–and then we quickly forget.
Sometimes, a random situation will spark a memory and I’ll remind myself of a cute thing my 10-year-old said or did when she was younger. When I share it, it makes her feel so special.
Kids absolutely love hearing about the things they did when they were younger! They keep asking for more. They have a never ending thirst for cute tidbits of information about “when they were little.”
“Tell me funny stories, Mommy!”
So, over the past few years, I began saving these “Mommy Memories” in kind of a virtual memory jar. It’s basically just a WhatsApp group that I created with myself. I call it “the things they say”. Everytime I find myself laughing from something the little ones say, I just quickly jot it down and send myself a text. Sometimes its a photo of a cute note or drawing.
Looking back is SO FUN for all of us and this makes it so easy. You can keep the chat archived and just access it when you need.
This can work with an actual jar and pen and paper or a text group or anything that works with your lifestyle. A reader mentioned this notebook that is cute! Someone else we know has a special email account for these memories, and she sends herself an email whenever there’s something she wants to remember.
These times in their lives will one day go by…and we never remember the things we think we’ll always remember. So, grab onto those moments today so you can reminisce about the cute things they once said or did in all the years to come.

I have a notebook where I write it in with name and age of kid.
My older kids love reading it!
Just make sure not to read aloud the things they said recently, it can make them very embarrassed.

I do this! My husband and I have a WhatsApp group for the kids funny lines and we write to each other whenever the kids say something memorable

I’ve opened an email address for each kid and each time they say something funny, I email it to them!
Then one day I’ll give them the password and they’ll be able to read it all.

I do this too!
And I write them letters on each birthday, when they hit major milestones, etc.
And when they are old enough for their own email, I’ll give them the password 🙂

such cute ideas!!! Since I don’t have a smartphone/easy access to computer, I have a notebook I keep in the kitchen – on one side we write the heaven things they say/do, on the other we write hugs from Hashem! It’s really fun! another resource I’ve discovered is this website, super cute for each kid to have their box

My father gifted me with a hard cover notebook when our first child was born 32 years ago. We’ve been writing our children’s funny quotes for years. It’s so much fun to go back and read and reminisce! We are now adding our grandchildren’s quotable quotes into this special book! It’s priceless!

I don’t remember who gave me this idea originally but this is what I do.
I set up an email address for each of my kids. Every year on their birthday I “write them an email”. I include so much – what they are up to, their personalities, how much we love them, etc etc. I try to email them with funny things they said and for special meaningful events and milestones.
One day when they are old enough to have their own email, they will take over the account and finally be able to read these notes!
It’s like a time capsule for the 21st century

Whenever my kids say something funny, I quickly snap a picture of them on the spot- with what they were referring to, or just in the moment, and then on my phone, i click edit and add text- then I write down what they said and save the picture like that. Then it gets printed along with the rest of my regular pictures in my albums! It makes going through family picture albums even cuter, we all love whenever we come across a picture with a funny or cute thing they said! Added bonus, it’s a cute way to keep parents/ grandparents in the loop with the funny things they say, u just easily share the pic with them!

I heard a really cute idea to get a small calendar notebook and hang it in the kids room and whenever you put them to sleep just write a quick cute something from that day (it’s ok if you miss days:) but it’s fun to have different calendars from each year!
