Pool time is lots of fun. Collecting lots of wet stuff afterward? Not as much.
All that pool time in the summer is fun for the kids, but let’s face it—stressful for moms. So while we can’t do ALL. THAT. LAUNDRY for you, we have some tips to make it a little easier.
1. Keep the wet and dry separate.
Take two pool bags every time you go to the pool. One bag has only towels in it. When you get to the pool, immediately take out the towels and leave them where the kids can get to them without dripping water all over everything else. When it’s time to leave, put all the wet stuff into the now-empty pool bag. (Buy this pool bag from target here.)
2. This Munchkin diaper sack dispenser can keep all the swim time trash under control.
Clip one onto your pool bag and always have a bag handy to collect those empty snack bags and tissues.
3. Keep an empty laundry basket near your washing machine. All wet stuff goes in that basket as soon as it comes into the house—day camp, swimming, sprinkling, etc. After the last child gets home, or after the sprinklers are turned off and the water balloons have all been popped, dump all that wet laundry into the machine so it’s ready for the next set of water adventures. This is when I like to prepare the camp bags for the next day, too.
4. Designate a small container/basket/drawer for each child’s swim gear.
Swimsuits, cover-ups, bathing caps, goggles—all in one container per child (buy those stackable sterile drawers here). Now each child can help themselves without having to fish for their stuff (aka scattering it all over the room).
We’d love to hear some of your pool time tips, too! Let us know what makes your summer go smoother.

I hung hooks outside on the porch for wet (but still clean) towels/bathing suits that don’t need to be washed, but do need a place to drip and dry. If we swim daily, the towels can often be reused if they are hung up right away. Cuts down the laundry and the mess inside.

I just gather all stuff from their bags daily, put in washer, then dryer then load it back in bags. This way it’s all together. Trhy wear same bathing suit and towel every single day
