Warning. This game might not work if you have multiple family members who read BCP. So: Warn your sisters-in-law ahead of time not to reveal the secret to the husbands and kids.
It’s really heartwarming. And sweet. And so, so special.
Here is how you play! It’s super simple and very minimal advance preparation is needed.
As the host, you’ll need to first prepare some notecards. Use the same size notecard for everyone. Or, you can download this template and print.
Prepare one stack for the men/boys and one stack for the ladies/girls. In the bottom of each card in the men’s pile, write “Zeidy” in tiny in the corner (or Saba/Grandpa/etc.). Write “Bubbe” (Grandma/Savta, etc.) in tiny in the corner for the cards in the women’s pile.
Give everyone a card or template.
Now announce, “Everyone look at your card but don’t show anyone. You have to write a letter to the person you received.”
Now, everyone gets writing. They don’t actually know that they all have the same people.
Give them a few minutes. Then, when everyone is done, announce, “Now, everyone give your letter to the person you received.”
And you know what happens next–a really heartwarming moment.
This is perfect for when there’s a party with lots of generations present, with one set of grandparents at the top! Just make sure you warn the other BCP readers not to let the secret out! You don’t want to ruin the surprise at the end!

So cute! What do you write on the cards that you give the Bubby and the Zeidy?
Gitty says
For Bubby – write Zeidy and for Zeidy write “Bubby”.
