I tried them for bathroom and laundry room total refresh and I’m completely sold!
For a long time I’ve said I need to move out of my house just so I could get a new start on all my “stuff” and closets. Even if I was just moving back into the same house. Well, I kind of did that. While I went the harder route of actually living in the house while we renovated (that will be a full post of its own), pretty much all the “stuff” had to be packed up, stored, and unpacked from scratch.
The good thing about renovating after living in a house for a long time is that you really know what works and what doesn’t. This is the chance to fix those systems that never really worked, or don’t anymore as your life and family change, and to really start fresh.
One major overhaul that was needed for a long time was in the laundry room. I’m going to back up a long time to when we bought this house. With Hashem’s help, we were at the right stage at the right time and were able to buy a 5-bedroom house pre-construction. We had one toddler at the time. The idea of needing 5 bedrooms was still a big dream. We didn’t like the planned small laundry room/closet off the kitchen on the main floor (why would they do that??) so we decided to make that into a pantry and use the fifth bedroom as a laundry room. Four bedrooms would be enough.
It was a great plan except nobody ever made that bedroom into a laundry room. It was basically just a bedroom with a closet – and a set of machines. Eventually we did put in some open shelving, but that’s it. With a big space like that, with no organization, the laundry room became the storage dump of the whole house. There were random bins and piles on every shelf. There was a system in the madness, but it was chaotic. And I always wanted to change that.
When we decided to renovate our house, a large piece of the laundry room would be sacrificed to make room for a new space. The closet had to go, the machines were moved to the other side of the room and the windows closed up. The new room is about half the size of the old one. But this time I was getting the cabinets and countertops I’d dreamed of. The smaller room is designed to be a laundry room and I’m making the most of it.
The day finally came that the cabinets were installed and I could start unloading the rolling shelves that had been holding all my laundry and cleaning supplies during the renovation. But nothing was going into the cabinets without a proper system! And did I mention it was a couple of days before Pesach? There was no time to go to a store and stare at containers and take measurements, etc. I decided to wing it and ordered a couple of different collections of The Home Edit storage bins (the Laundry Edit, the Multipurpose Edit and the Bath Edit) from Walmart with same day delivery. I was instantly in love!

These containers look nice, fit perfectly in upper cabinets, and come in so many different practical sizes. Drawers, bins, open bins, insert bins – it’s all coordinated perfectly.

The sets include different size mini bins that go inside the bigger ones to keep things contained.

In this bin for first aid, there’s a small bin for bandaids.

In this “junk drawer” bin, I was able to stack the pens on top of the bin that holds shoe products because those aren’t used all that often.

They don’t need such easy access.

The lazy susan keeps stain removers and other laundry bottles easy to reach above the washing machine.

And the open front bin holds mesh bags and knee high stockings (for washing tzitzis) separately, but together.
Two more same day delivery orders later, I was able to set up all the little systems that will keep the laundry room functional and organized for so much more than just laundry. And I still have some empties for the things that will come up as the seasons change. I love knowing that there’s room to tweak as needed with the flexibility of the bin system.

And that wasn’t the end of my storage bin obsession. I decided to order two different sets of the smaller bins – the kitchen drawer combo and the desk drawer combo so I could set up my guest bath vanities. There’s also a bathroom combo but I didn’t try that one. All the different sizes coordinate and come together to perfectly fit the space in the vanities (which are not the same size). I love how appealing and welcoming those drawers look now!

This 24” vanity is perfectly set up for teens to have sleepovers – planned or not!

And this bigger vanity holds everything our guests can need in a neat, organized way that makes them feel cared for.

These little divided mini bins are so perfect!
These look amazing! I actually got some of these recently for my kitchen. If I can’t figure out how to use them maybe I’ll repurpose how you used them.
Any chance we can get a post with links or just the info on what is in the guest vanity drawer? It looks amazingly well stocked. So nice for a guest to have all those things!!
