Did You Know It’s Healthier to Cook Using a Grill Pan?

Missing your summer grilling? Have it in the depth of winter by using a trusty grill pan! Get many health perks too!

I am always on the lookout for healthy dinner options to recommend to my clients. And I am ever so happy that I chanced upon the cast iron grill pan.

Grill pans are great tools to use when you want to get that savory grilled taste and those aesthetically beautiful sear marks. There are also health benefits. They are constructed with ridges that allow the protein’s natural fats to flow below freely, making your proteins contain fewer fats. Also, you don’t need to preheat your grill pan with oil the way you would heat your frying pan, once again enabling you to cook a healthier dinner.

Tip: In order to avoid using oil prior to grilling, preheat your grill pan for 5 minutes. When placing the meat or chicken in the pan, you will hear that great sizzling sound, letting you know that you succeeded!

These are the best grill pans on the market:

Rachael Ray Cucina Hard-Anodized Nonstick Grill Pan

  • Hard-anodized aluminum grill pan provides fast, even heating; long-lasting PFOA-free espresso-colored nonstick offers easy food release and cleanup
  • The grill’s bottom ridges add appealing sear marks to foods while allowing extra liquids and fats to drip away; deep sides minimize splatters

Victoria Cast Iron Grill Pan

This brand uses  kosher certified oil to season their  cast iron grill pan –  giving you the benefits of cast iron grilling without the hassle.

All Clad Hard Anodized Non-stick Grill Pan

This pan has a good mid-level weight and heats up very evenly. The square shape seems to fit more portions of food than a round one.

Staub Grill Pan

This is enameled cast iron, so you don’t have to worry about kashrus issues. It’s the king of grill pans. And it happens to be really, really pretty.

So hard anodized pans come pre-seasoned? (Do they need to be kashered?

Trying to find “this post” as you say above:
Want to make my Grilled Citrus Chicken Salad for dinner? See this post., but when I put it in the search box, nothing comes up.
    Thank you so much!
    Love your website and app!
    Keep up the good work!!
Actually, while I’m sending in a question, I came across a copy of your recipe for the babka buns the other week and I decided to make them for my children who were visiting. The dough came out very loose. I admit that my grandson helped me make the dough and hopefully he counted correctly the amount of cups of flour, but I just wanted to know. I kneaded in some more flour and it worked out but I couldn’t make the buns tight, a.k.a they didn’t come out looking so pretty, although they were delicious!
Also if I may add some constructive criticism, the instructions were not so clear to me as to how to lay the buns out on the cookie sheet so I laid them out cut side up. It wasn’t until I searched for the recipe on the website and after the fact printed out the photo with the recipe that I saw that after cutting the slices, they were to be laid out on the cookie sheet on the side.
Again, please let me state that they came out absolutely delicious!!
    Thanks again!!

Put a piece of baking paper in the pan before you start!
Just be careful that it doesn’t go over the edges cause the fire could leap….

I am looking for a grill pan without any sort of non stuck coating (because they eventually start to peel off). Do any of these fit that category?
