We were amazed, and for once, everyone was able to enjoy the outdoor BBQ because of these Fly Fans.
At first, when this product was introduced to us, we kind of made a face, even though we were on a Zoom call. We thought, “really?” This sounds so silly and just a waste of space.
But, the recommendation was strong and the flies…annoying. And persistent. Where we live, flies have chutzpah. They smell food, or air-conditioned air, and here they come.
So, we figured it was worth a try.
As we were preparing the meats for our BBQ, while still indoors, we noticed 2 flies circling our raw steak. We placed one of these fans near the meat and…magic.
The flies were gone.
We’re not sure why, but somehow they are more scared of this fan than they are of humans.

At the actual BBQ, we placed two fans on the table and it was enough to ensure no flies come onto the food.
The best part?
You can touch the blades and nothing will happen.

The blades are soft and safe to touch. This is the perfect thing to have around kids too.
Once we had these in the house, we found many uses for them. For example, one erev Shabbos one of us had a lot of food cooling on the counter at the same time, and the fans came in handy to keep flies away.
They are easy to pack and bring along to a picnic in the park, which we did. Every other table at the park wanted to borrow the fans “once we were done eating.”
Try one yourself–and let us know what you think!
Oh, and that delicious looking red cabbage slaw you see on the table? Stay tuned. The recipe is coming!
Didn’t work for us. I threw out tons of food covered in tiny bugs after an outdoor party. I should have done the party inside or used a UV light.
