Create cute DIY photo frame magnets you’ll love to see on your fridge! Great birthday party activity.
Looking for a cute (and really useful) craft that’ll keep kids of all ages (from the littlest to the teens) happily busy for a little while?
Back during the time that we launched Between Carpools, I shared this DIY Spilled Food Prank – even after all these years, kids will still enjoy making the pranks and using them!
More recently, around Chanukah time, I was inspired by this craft post on Pinterest. My kids colored the wooden rings as donuts, but I knew this could also be cute for summer. Think: swimming tubes, beach balls, ice cream scoops with sprinkles…
But, of course, like all things BCP, I wanted to simplify a bit.
I knew that most of you are not running to let your kids paint. When you hear “paint,” you usually think “next.” (However, if you do like to let your kids paint, there are lots of cool paint activity ideas on BCP too!)
There was an easy solution. I used paint markers instead. They’re not only neater and more practical, they’re also much easier to control and allow you to make nicer designs. It’s a win-win all around. You might remember that we also used paint markers when making this keychain craft.
So, paint markers, wooden rings, and self-adhesive magnet dots. Those are the three items you’ll need for this project.
You’ll also need some photos! Summer-themed, of course! Note that you should choose photos where the subject’s face is small enough to fit inside the ring once cut out (close-ups don’t work so well). If you have a color instant camera (like the Kodak Printomatic or Instax)… this can be a fun birthday party project where you print the pictures out on the spot!
Paint the wooden rings however you like.
Cut the photos into circles that are just a tiny bit smaller than the rings.
Using a glue gun, glue the photos onto the rings.
Stick on a magnet.
And you’re done!
We’re always looking for more magnets when we need to stick something on the fridge, and this fills the need in a cute, family-friendly way!

Cute! Would permanent markers work for this too?
