No matter your budget or desired fit, there is a comfortable stretch dress pant option out there for all the men and boys in your life.
Stretch pants are a fairly new phenomena over the last couple of years, and it’s a very exciting one for all the men and boys in our lives. By now, many of them won’t wear anything else!
For boys’ sizes, these types of pants are only available on the Jewish market. Last year, we rounded up all the different types of stretch pants at His Place (one of the innovators of this type of product) in this post. If your son is wearing boy’s sizes, refer to that post for all the different options, as that’s where you’ll still find the most options.
If you have a teen that’s in men’s sizes or almost in men’s sizes (or a husband that’s interested), there are more options available to you at a wider range of price points and we’re going to try to give you a complete update right now:
Now, let’s go from lowest price to highest.

These woven stretch pants are a great find and value. Unlike other stretch pants which run more narrow, these run wider and have more of a classic fit. Good option for a boy that does not want a slim fit.

We tested these pants from brand Plaid&Plain. It seems they make a few different styles of stretch dress pants. We found the quality and fabric to be excellent, but note that they run very small/narrow and there is a low rise. You will need to size up a size or two. If you order your son’s regular size, you may end up with leggings instead of pants. But because they run small, and they also start at size 27W (which is small to begin with), this will probably work for many not-yet-in-men’s-sizes boys too. Plus, you won’t need to tailor because they come in different lengths.
This was another good quality amazon option that we tried at around the same price point, but they are unavailable in many sizes (they seem to run a bit more true to size).
Costco Pants
While researching all the options in the mens’ stretch pants category, many women told us that their husbands like the stretch pants they found at Costco. However, these are not available online and we don’t know if they are always or only sometimes available in store.
While we’ve been thrilled with all the pants we’ve tried from His Place over the past couple of years, once the Flex Pant came out, there was no turning back. This is the favorite for many of our boys right now. It’s thinner than the pants in the Basic Collection (the ones we’ve been buying until now) and they have much more of a dress pant appearance – but just as comfortable than other stretch pants. They also come in multiple lengths so you will likely not need to hem. It is available in black here and in navy here (charcoal is also available). Note that the Flex pants are currently in stock only in men’s sizes. (Boys sizes are sold out/being restocked; we will try to keep you posted when they’re back.)
The king of all stretch pants and a perennial favorite are the pricey pants from LuluLemon. Some men wear these everyday, others just for traveling/casual wear, but many won’t wear anything else. (We can’t complain. Even if they’re more expensive than other pants, their whole wardrobe doesn’t have much else in it.) There are two styles that are the most popular–the ABC is a five-pocket style and the Commission Pant looks more like dress pants with snap pockets in the back. Both styles have a hidden zippered pocket (perfect for cash and cards!) and come in a gazillion colors, lengths, and both classic and slim fits.

Thank you! Perfect timing for this post! My 9th grader doesn’t fill in the smallest of the men’s sizes but he’s almost there… the Plaid&Plain pants are a great option that come in smaller sizes and a decent price, although they don’t run as narrow/slim as suggested in this article for a slim 14 year old. Another version of this brand have a skinny fit leg that were better and my son preferred the stretch fabric of this one too: Plaid&Plain Men’s Stretch Dress Pants Slim Fit Skinny Suit Pants https://a.co/d/gwUNtRM

We’re enjoying van heusen pants. My husband enjoys wearing them and I love that I can wash and dry them at home in the dryer and they come out looking like dress pants. The price when on sale on Amazon is amazing too!
