4 Miracle Skin Solutions for the Drying Effects of Winter

It may look like a winter wonderland outside. But that cold air can have a cruel effect on your skin. The cure? These winter skin remedies.

Winter wonderland?

More like, winter dryland.

The cold winter months can be tough on our bodies. Here are a few tips on how to deal with chapped lips, dry hands, and more. With longer nights (think Motzei Shabbos!) there is more time to indulge and add a few pampering moments to take better care of ourselves.

For chapped lips:

Know how your lips get so badly chapped that you can’t even wear lipstick because it looks awful?

Here’s what you do, combine:

½ tsp brown or white sugar
½ tsp honey
½ tsp olive oil
pinch cinnamon

Mix ingredients together in a small bowl or even on the palm of your hand. Using your index finger, rub on dry lips gently, in small circular motions. Scrub for 2-3 minutes. Wipe with a warm washcloth. Apply chap stick/lip balm to lock in moisture.

Ta da! Super soft lips.

For dry hands:

I have the L’Occitane hand cream in every shape form and size available. One is in my purse, one in the glove compartment, another one in the kitchen, and there’s probably one in my daughter’s briefcase too. This hand cream really works. And what I love about it is how it’s so natural and good for delicate skin. I use it on my children’s hands too.

For tired feet:

I call this the miracle pedicure. This method removes dry skin and it’s so easy and quick. You will be amazed by how smooth your feet will feel. And yes, it does sound weird. But you must try it.

In a small basin, mix:

¼ cup Listerine mouthwash (any color will do)
¼ cup vinegar
½ cup warm water

Soak your feet for 10 minutes, then massage dead skin off with a washcloth and apply moisturizer.

For what I call “winter skin”

(aka rough, thick skin on legs and arms, ingrown hairs, and all the nice side effects that come along with the cold)

Truth be told this is the best scrub out there. Trust me, I’ve tried them all. It’s from OUAI and it turns your skin into smooth silk. Promise. Follow it up with this matching Body Cream for even longer lasting softness.

The mineral body polish scrub is out of stock. Any other to recommend? Also, how do you apply without hurting the skin on your hands?

Wow! The foot soak really works!! I wish I knew about this year’s ago. I’ve been suffering from dry feet since my childhood and sometimes it gets so bad that moisturizer alone isn’t enough. The soak is a game changer. Thank you
