Is it raining? Too hot to be outside? Entertainment is just a few minutes away.
This is the perfect activity to try and play around with, when boredom strikes.
Yes, we all know all too well the cries of “Mommy there’s NOTHING to dooooo!”
Well, for once, you get to be that cool mama that knows a trick or two. No need to tell them (the toddlers) that you found this “recipe” on Between Carpools too (but please do tell your neighbors and your sisters).
Anyway, here is what you will need: basically, all things you own anyway.
4 tablespoons of water
1 tablespoon dish soap (which one? Read below)
2 tablespoons sugar

Combine water and soap in a small bowl. Mix. Add the sugar and mix until dissolved.
With the help of a straw, carefully blow some bubbles. You do that by dipping the end of the straw in the mixture, and then gently blowing into the straw until bubbles form.

Wearing gloves, play around with the bubbles. You will see that they are extra bouncy!

The gloves will prevent the bubbles from popping. You can use any gloves you have in your drawer or these disposable cotton ones (perfect if you are doing this as an activity in a day camp).
We found that different types of dish soap worked differently. Play around and experiment! And have fun along the way.

Here are a few more ideas of things you can do with your kids when they get bored.
Are disposable gloves fine?
Bouncing bubbles will work with cotton gloves only.
Like the Costco nitrile ones?
Wondering the same…
My daughter loved this activity. Just be prepared for everything to become sticky. From her hair to the furniture and the floor. Wherever the bubbles land. I wouldn’t recommend doing it indoors.
Thanks for the heads up. I allowed my kids to play with the bubbles on my porch. They loved it!!! I already did it twice….cant wait for more kids activities!!
And who doesn’t love being the cool mom with a secret weapon against boredom? Plus, it sounds like this activity won’t require a shopping trip, which is always a win.
