Forget about those clunky space-consuming Rubbermaid containers forever (save ‘em for your sukkah decorations). These storage bag organizers are the best for storing out-of-season clothing.
There are a few things I dislike about Rubbermaid storage containers. They take up way too much space. They get really heavy. And it’s really hard to organize items within them.
These soft storage bags are simply so much better! Because they’re smaller, you can easily store one category of clothing in each one, so you don’t need to dump a container to find what you need. It’s so easy to take out your winter sweaters, and put away your summer tops in the same bag!
Because they’re small and flexible, they’re also sooo much easier to store in a convenient place (like on the top shelf of your closet!). But, since they have a view window, you can actually see everything that’s inside.
If you hand down clothing, you can use one storage bag for each size/season (i.e. size 4 summer) and they’re a perfect size.
So, save the Rubbermaid containers for the items that belong in your garage.

I love these bags!!! I get them on Amazon or eBay (in UK). They are available in a few different variations of sizes, and are by far the best way to store clothes!!! Also easy to manoeuvre into a loft or tight storage space that only has a small entranceway. Everyone I know prefers using them to boxes. You can also use vacuum storage bags inside these bags if need to subdivide sizes/seasons.
I bought these as soon as I saw the post and I finally made use of them!! Dumped around 6 huge plastic bins, exchanged for 4 of these. (ok I also threw a ton out:) They’re amazing! I love how they fit whatever you need cuz they’re soft. And so light, now they’re on a top closet shelf instead of wedged under the guest beds… Thanks for the great idea!!
Can you stack them if they’re not full, though? What I like about the plastic bins is that even if the filling is a funny shape they still stack neatly. These look too soft for that. Odds don’t seem great of my stuff perfectly filling a cubic dimension each time
I bought these after reading the article and decided to go back to bins. They don’t stack so nicely like you said. A few of them also ripped. Like everything else, you have to do what works for you!
