The easy, no mess picture frame craft activity that will keep kids of all ages busy crafting (with something cute to show for their efforts). Great for parties.
We were planning a birthday party and needed an easy craft.
Sure, my daughter would have preferred something like painting pottery, making slime, or any one of the painting activities we’ve featured here in the past, but with 20 eight-year-olds around my table, I really wasn’t willing to take a chance. I needed something that would be no risk and a super easy clean-up.
I also like crafts where the adults don’t need to get involved. At all. Preferably, crafts where the younger and older children are both happy and can create on their own level.
Three years ago, we had come up with this Acrylic Keychain craft for her 5-year-old birthday party (we don’t do parties every year…just once in a while). It was perfect. And, even better, since the last birthday party was just cousins and this one would be just friends, I could even repeat it.

But I wanted a new twist, and found these picture frames. What I like about these frames is that they fit the standard instant print photos, like the Zink 2×3 photos perfectly.

They’re also magnetic from both sides, so you can insert two photos back to back and showcase either side. Yes, that means kids have double the activity as well, because both sides can be decorated.

If you have a Sprocket Photo Printer, or any of those instant cameras, like the Kodak Printomatic Instant Camera, then you can take photos at the party and send each child home with the cutest project+favor. The Instax Camera photos also fit (Instax photo paper is a little pricier than the Kodak alternative).
Alternatively, here’s another adorable photo magnet craft you can do using pre-printed photos that are cut to size.

And there’s one thing about picture magnets–it’s the kind of craft a mother doesn’t mind when a child brings one home. We love having pictures of our kids, and I personally love having more fridge magnets (if you’re the type that keeps a fridge clean rather than hanging up all the recent stuff–I’m sorry!).
Besides for the magnet frames, all you’ll need are acrylic paint markers and letter stickers.
We took photos of each child, printed them out on the Sprocket, let them decorate, and there you go!
And here are two posts on how we’ve used these frames for place cards!
Thanks for this great idea! Do you have a current link for the clear frames? TY!

Is it best to use the printer that you posted ?
