The Easiest Way to Keep Your Child’s Closet Neat

The Easiest Way to Keep Your Child’s Closet Neat

Your smallest fashionista can have a neater closet (even if she’s always pulling things off the shelf).

Don’t you love the look of a neat bedroom closet? Nicely stacked piles, evenly folded?

And then your little one wants the t-shirt from the middle of the pile, stands on tiptoes and pulls. And there go the neat piles. Again.

We came up with a solution and I put it to the test in my daughter’s room. So far, it’s working well, so it’s time to share with all of you out there.

We’ve already shared how much we like the Skubb bins from IKEA a while ago (yes you can also buy them on Amazon here, however, they are pricier). And now we’ll say it again – these bins are perfect for so many things! (These similar ones are available from Amazon.)

Simply file fold each pile Marie Kondo style and place it into a designated basket. Label each basket with the contents. Now, when your little shorty is reaching up on tiptoes, she can pull down the right basket, choose a t-shirt or sweater, and just slide the basket back on the shelf. All by herself!

I use them in my boys’ underwear drawer for underwear, socks and belts/accessories.

Miriam, I do, too! They keep everything so organized. But this works great for those hard to reach piles.

My cousin, a professional organizer, gave me this tip: hang EVERYTHING. No more. Messy piles. No more long forgotten sweaters languishing on the bottom of a pile. I buy slim velvet hangers and hang everything except pajamas and underwear. Stretches, shells, sweaters, Total game changer for me. I also find it makes laundry easier. I hang everything to dry on the designated hangers and it goes straight into the closet.

You don’t get hanger marks on your sweater?

I love this idea. What size bins did you use for the t-shirts? for the sweatshirts?

What about sweaters and delicate fabrics on hangers, don’t the hangers leave an imprint on the shoulders ?
I have not yet found one hanger that works for all tops.
    Please advise
