Looking for the right comforter that’s cozy and warm – but not too warm?
A request we very often get from readers is for down duvet recommendations. And while this is definitely an item where a splurge can be worth it, there are lots of options out there. So we put the question to our audience on social media and collected the best selections in one place.
Before you order, make sure you know the right size for your linen. Twin sizes are generally universal, but when you’re shopping for a full size bed, there are different sizes. Jewish stores tend to sell separate sizes for full beds and queen beds. American stores have one combined size called full/queen. Before investing in a duvet, decide where you prefer to shop for linen and buy the right size.

Landsend essential down comforter. With 50% off code, these come out to $125 for the full/queen size. Twin is cheaper, and you can’t beat their return policy and lifetime warranty

I recently moved and bought down duvets and pillows from vantpanels.com. They are delightfully light and comfortable, we are thrilled with them! They often have discount codes….

The costco duvet says dry clean. Do you know if I could machine wash?

For non-down quilts (I’m allergic) I like IKEA’s SMÅSPORRE. They come in 3 weights, signified by the colour of the tag (red/orange/yellow).
As for the odd names for items at IKEA, it’s actually really interesting. I think Circle even had something on it recently. Everything is named after groups of items in Swedish. Linens are names of plants, for example. (Fjällbräcka is an Alpine Saxifrage, which is apparently a flowering plant. Yes, I’m a word nerd 🙂 )
