Because kids don’t want prune or apricot anyway.
We’re going to have a lot of fun today.
Can’t you tell?
Do sprinkles just make you happy? (Or, at least, do they make your kids happy?)
Today, we’re going to make Funfetti Hamantaschen using a really simple hack and we’re really wondering why we never did this before. They are classic, traditional hamantaschen. They just do a better job of getting kids excited for Purim then, let’s say, prunes do.
We’re very excited about these sprinkles too!
These sprinkles are all-natural with no artificial dyes! They’re made by Pure Foods by Estee, the same food brand that brought you your best-quality chocolate chips (found in most kosher supermarkets) and lots more.
The sprinkles are made using natural dyes from fruits and vegetables and they’re nut-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free. As if you needed more reasons to let sprinkles make you smile.
It’s not just sprinkles. Estee also makes these Candy-Coated Chocolate Chips – they come in both Rainbow colors and the pretty Pastel colors too. And–these fun-loving nonpareils or “round sprinkles” are also a fav. They’re the best crunch on an ice cream!
But today, we’re going to use them for the hamantaschen that will be the ones your kids ask for the most from today going forward.
The hack is super simple, but first you’ll need some hamantaschen dough. We used this No-Marg Sugar Cookie Dough featured here.
Simply roll out the dough and sprinkle the sprinkles on top. You can use one type of sprinkle, or combine two or three types. Here we used both, sprinkles and the candy chips.
Then, just place a piece of parchment paper over the dough.
Roll over the dough to press the sprinkles slightly into the dough so they stick.
Cut out the circles the way your grandmother did–using a drinking glass of course (yes, cookie cutters are allowed too).
A mini offset spatula is a really helpful tool
for lifting dough when making cookies like these.
Now the filling is a no-brainer.
Top quality chocolate chips, of course! Who will say no to that?
Shape your hamantaschen
as you traditionally do
and bake!
Now, wasn’t this fun?
