LEGO To Go, Please!

Have a kid who can play with LEGO for hours? Now you can pack it up for some travel time entertainment.

There are some kids who can play with LEGO endlessly. The ones who need just a handful or two of bricks and their imagination can create all sorts of building ideas. And while we generally enjoy having this kind of quiet play at home, there are times when we need some low-key busy time on the road.

So let’s create a LEGO binder system! Super simple but easy to pack up and play with in the car or on a plane. Or in a doctor’s office waiting room. Or at mom’s office on one of those no school and no camp days.

An open hardcover binder, a zippered pencil pouch with Lego bricks, some Lego plates and picture hanging strips.

You’ll need a hardcover binder, a zipped pencil pouch, some LEGO plates from your stash and picture hanging strips if you want the plates to be removable.

You can use one single large plate or several smaller plates. Either glue them onto the inside back cover of the binder, or use the picture hanging strips to attach them.

That way the plate can be used on any surface at your destination.

Then select some bricks from your LEGO collection. It might be best to let the child do that so the pieces are the “good ones”.

Put them into the pencil pouch and zip it up.

That’s it! Pop the binder into your child’s backpack or carry-on bag and it’s good to go!

If you want to fit more LEGO pieces in the pouch, use a 1.5” binder.
