Who knew that THIS flatbread is what was missing from your BBQ all along.
Every BBQ has the obligatory foods. For some, it’s hot dogs and burgers, for others it’s steak and chicken. But you know what’s missing from all these BBQs? Fresh hot piping bread (supermarket buns don’t really fit into that category)…the kind that you can tear with your hands, that’s fluffy, and light with the grill char on the outside.
What if I told you you can easily make it in under 5 minutes?
Grab a fresh bowl of chummus, your BBQ meat and get that grill started!
Use premade pizza dough, either your own or from the freezer section. Note that you cannot use pre-made dough from your pizza shop for this purpose (as we’ll be using our grill).
Preheat grill to 475-500F.
Divide a 1 lb dough into 4-6 pieces.
Make sure the strips aren’t too long and narrow or you’ll end up with 1 foot long grilled flatbread.
On a lightly floured surface, stretch each dough piece out as evenly as possible.
Don’t use a rolling pin to stretch out the dough. Use your hands so that it’s light and airy when you grill it. Don’t reroll the dough once you stretch it out. If you do, then you need to let the dough rest 20-30 minutes before stretching it out again.
Spray your grill with a grill spray (or brush it with a little oil) such as Pam or Weber. We didn’t notice a major difference between the two.
Place the dough on the grill. Close lid for 1 minute.
Open lid, flip the dough over with tongs. Close the lid and bake an additional 45 seconds. Some grills need another 10 seconds. Watch carefully as it can burn.
Serve with your favorite BBQ foods, enjoy with chummus, or turn it into a salad flatbread.

I would love to try this with the shredded beef pizza. Would you be so kind and share your Caesar dressing?! Ty
Leah Schapira says
I’m not sure what specific Ceasar dressing you are referring to. Usually it’s just mayonnaise with some vinegar, little sugar and garlic.

This looks heaven!!! Is there a way to do this in the oven??
Leah Schapira says
I’m afraid it’s not the same. You can place a piece of dough on baking paper and place directly on the rack.

Just made this it was sooo good! Better than in an authentic Israeli grill place my husband said. Thank you!
By the way it took me minutes to make. I made pizza dough in the morning which took around 5 mins then another 5 minutes before supper to shape and grill.

Is there a way to save a recipe in the app in a favorite section instead of sharing it to a file. Luke putting a heart near the recipe and when I go back to recipes I can see what I want to try in future. Like these grilled flat breads.

Can this be made in advance? I’d like to make and serve for Shabbos lunch.
