Small Changes for a Better Aesthetic to Your Home

It might be just surface, but often pretty surroundings help us enjoy being at home all the more. It’s simpler than you expect, and can be easily bring some simple joy.

We all have trouble zones in our homes. It might be the spot where papers simply accumulate out of thin air, or the counter that just doesn’t look right no matter how many pretty soaps you add. Perhaps it’s the night table, where you need those tissues handy.

Here are some ways to fix those trouble zones so they aren’t an eyesore. It can be simpler that you think.

The first tip is very straightforward. We might be repeating ourselves, but it’s worth it. Tissue boxes are a necessity that we need at arm’s reach. But we can do without the design of this season’s Kleenex. The quickest room upgrade is so incredibly simple. Just slide a cover over your tissue box and you have transformed your night table.

For a sportier look (think boys room, girls room or office space) you can go with this tried and true faux leather covers. For a more classic or elegant look, see these linen-like options.

You might own a pretty oil bottle, or a salt cellar that you use all the time. You want to keep it handy, near the stove, for daily use. Absolutely, that makes sense. But, what we recommend you do is add a tray to hold all the items together. A tray anchors it all to one spot, and makes it belong there. With intention. We loved this tray because of the size and the lip that contains it all so well.

Same idea here with this tray underneath the hand soap. See how it gives the finishing touch to the sink area.

Same goes in this washing area, where you need to anchor the items used daily like the netilas yadayim cup and the hand soap. A tray slightly larger than the one shown above works well here.

Perfumes are pretty on their own. Right? This super cool tray will make your bottles pop even more, while giving them a destination, a place to live.

Do you know those papers that just collect on your counter daily? Schedules, permission slips, manuals, random little toys that you are not sure if you can toss (but if you do toss, someone will inevitably end up crying). We have the solution to gather all that. Place these decorative boxes on the edge of your kitchen counter,  entry table, or any space where things accumulate naturally.  Treat these decorative boxes as a catch all. And let your husband and the children know that this is where they should be looking first if they are missing something.

Periodically, go through the box and sort it out.

We also liked these boxes for the same purpose. Yes! These are boxes that look like books. They’re the perfect place to hang on to receipts that you need or loose cash.

Another great aesthetic difference is bringing plants and greens into your home. Even fake ones. There are so many that look amazing now. The difference is how you do it.

Faux plants can be made to look so much better if you just give it a bit of movement and shape.

When packed for traveling, faux branches are stiff and angular. You need to bring some life to them.

Let the plant expand and breathe by bending the branches so that they take up more space and look like they are actually blooming.

There you go!
