How to Use a Stem Holder to ‘Stretch’ Your Flowers

This little item will turn you into a flower-arranging pro.

Problem: You want the flowers to fill the vase,

but you don’t want to use a ton of flowers.

Flowers in a vase all falling to one side

Or:

Problem: You want your flowers to “stand up” but they’re just falling to the sides.

Shavuos is coming, and if there’s any time you want your flowers to fill your table, it’s now. But, sometimes, if you have wide vases, it’s not so practical to stuff them up. And it’s so hard to get it to stand a certain way.  A florist knows how, but we don’t know how.

This will help those flowers stretch! Either you don’t want to spend a ton, or frankly, sometimes flowers need a little space!

Your peonies that are closed now will be open later, and they will need their room to shine. When they’re crowded, you can’t see the full beauty. This gives the flower the space to open up.

Insert the stems into the hole. You can cut them later once they’re in. You may need to cut off thorns so the stems can fit through the holes.

Twist the stem holder to make your flowers stand looser or tighter together.

It’s now easy to assess how high they need to be

(just above the rim of the vase works best with an arrangement like this) and cut them down to size.

We love this collection. The Large one is a favorite.

Be careful with cutting off thorns from the roses. It allows the water to seep through the stems making your flowers die faster.

But florists do it – is there a proper way to cut them off?
