The 9×13 Life: S’mores

This is the easiest and most fun way to enjoy hot, oozing S’mores with a group of friends or family – no campfire needed!

Luckily, two of my friends each have a house full of girls, so when we get together, the girls always have friends their age and go off to do their own thing. Our get-togethers end up being one of those rare times where we can actually sit, relax, and talk.

This winter we planned a 24-hour “moms and girls” hangout. The girls mostly entertained themselves, and while we got to catch up.

At some point, the girls decided to make s’mores.A few of the older girls had learned how to make “9×13 S’mores” at their summer camp with Triple A, and ever since then they’ve been making it at home. So when we were all together, it ended up being the perfect easy activity and snack.

Originally at camp, the director, Tzipy Szydlo, would make it by putting a big bar of baking chocolate on the bottom of a 9×13 pan, breaking it into pieces and spreading it out. Then she’d add a layer of marshmallows on top.

At home, we found it easier to use a bag of chocolate chips (especially since we always have them on hand anyway to make our favorite chocolate chip sticks). It also just works better with younger kids, because every scoop actually has both chocolate and marshmallow, so no one’s fighting over the “good pieces.”

Simply combine 1 1/2 bags of marshmallows and 1 (9 oz) bag of chocolate chips.

Bake at 400ºF for 5-7 minutes, or until chocolate is melted and marshmallows are golden on top.

Scoop up using graham crackers.

Yum! It’s such a fun treat to enjoy with friends.

There’s no need to fight over who gets to stick their marshmallow into the fire first.

Everyone can scoop and make their s’mores altogether.

There’s plenty for everyone! And kids, yes, you can even share with the moms too.

Yum!
