Just a touch of chocolate in the form of gelt makes fresh pancakes all the better.
Sometimes, all it takes is one little twist to make a breakfast feel just that much more special.
And it’s those mornings when the whole family is home together that might be the perfect time.
If you have gelt available (dairy, preferably!), add them to your pancakes in the morning. Whether you make them from scratch using our favorite Basic Pancakes from Dinner Done, or you use frozen pancake batter, no matter.
Your pancakes will still be a little more fun with melty gelt in the middle.

The trick is to not add the gelt until after you’ve flipped the pancake. If you add it to the first side, then it will just melt too much and be unrecognizable.

That last 30 seconds of cooking time is all it needs to get just a little melty, while still keeping its shape.

These pancakes remind us of a chocolate-filled crepe, with just the right amount of sweetness in the middle.
It’s super simple, yum, and fun!
Last year, we put together a bunch of Chanukah-themed foods to make a fun-to-enjoy Chanukah breakfast board.
More with gelt!
