In an ideal world, we’d all love playing Monopoly and Risk. In reality, there’s a handful of games we don’t mind playing on a cold Friday night.
If your kids are happy to play board or card games by themselves, you’re lucky. If they want you to join, you need to know which games to pick. This is a roundup of the ones we don’t mind playing – and might even enjoy, too!
And if you’re looking for more game recommendations, we have some board games here and card games here. If you have lots of card games in your house, you’ll want to check out how we store them.
I am not sure if bananagrams is permissible for Shabbos . Check with your local rabbi.
Our Rav said it’s ok. Everyone can consult their own LOR.
Our rabbi says it’s okay too
We love anomia! We also play many many rounds of connect 4 and guess who with the younger kids… banana split is a favorite too.
Thanks for sharing your faves! Connect 4 is popular around here, too, but I get beaten too often to enjoy playing!
Thanks for the recommendations! Pekelach is a great jewish game (similar to banana split) you have to use strategy so i enjoy playing it. Blink is a great card game that takes minutes to play each round so its great for anytime with mommy and i can stop whenever i need to.
We just got into Q-bitz. Great game and customizable for different ages!
Banana split is one of the few games I actually find fun to play with the kids. It’s a great game
Cover Your Assets is a fantastic quick game
FAV around here!!!
For anyone with much younger kids we have so much fun playing counting chickens! Would love to hear more toddler-kindergarten age games that are fun for mommies too!
I assume this is referring to Count Your Chickens Maybe original poster Mommy can chime in and let us know if that’s correct?
Love Outfoxed! for this age
Oops yes count your chickens! Auto correct… sorry!
A great game for younger set is Rat-A-Tat-Cat, my son loved it.
My kids love Cubeez. Even my four year old can play. It’s a fun cute game. You need to match your cubes to the chosen picture.
I’d add Labyrinth by Ravensburger to the list. It’s our favourite family game!
Love eye found it great game that I don't mind playing with the kids (we have the minion edition)
Monopoly deal is great. Quick and fun
UNO is great. Not too long 🙂
Wow, thanks everyone for great recommendations! Will have to check them out!
Dos is another great card game
I’m surprised that the Catan game isn’t one of your family favorites games… you shuld really play it.
These are great. I would also add Buildzi and Even Steven’s Odd.
Rat a tat cat is a great new game to our family collection. Quick and easy to play.
And if your kids can read… twisted kichels!!! best family shabbos game. We’re always laughing
Does anyone know the difference between the Century:Golem games? Are there just different game pieces or are the rules/versions of the games different?
