This salmon is fresh, vibrant, plus takes only minutes to prepare. It might become your favorite weeknight dinner.
Freshly baked (read hot) salmon is just better. We all know that.
Now, did you know that skillet seared salmon is even better?
Yes, it is. And it’s not scary to prepare at all. Pinky promise.
Also, for some reason, this particular recipe will not stink up your entire house like some salmons tend to do… Not sure why (maybe the lack of skin?) but we are not asking too many questions, we are just happy to enjoy the fish without the fishy smell.
Sear salmon “skin”-side up for 3-4 minutes.
Flip and sear for 2 minutes.
Pour in the orange juice and allow to reduce to half the quantity (it takes about 1 minute to reduce down if your pan is hot enough).
Move the salmon to the sides of the pan and add in the honey and soy sauce, stirring well to combine all of the flavors together.
Add sliced orange and cook for another minute or so.
Remove from heat once the salmon is cooked to your liking.
Orange Glazed Salmon
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 3 6-ounce skinless salmon fillets
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 4 garlic cloves crushed or minced
- Salt and cracked black pepper for sprinkling
- ½ an orange sliced
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Make sure the pan is hot, this will ascertain that you create a nice crust, and not break the fillet. Sear salmon “skin”-side up for 3-4 minutes. Flip and sear for 2 minutes.
- Pour in the orange juice and allow to reduce to half the quantity (it takes about 1 minute to reduce down if your pan is hot enough). Add the garlic and cook until fragrant (30 seconds). Move the salmon to the sides of the pan and add in the honey and soy sauce, stirring well to combine all of the flavors together.
- Bring to a simmer until reduced to a nice syrup (this takes about another 30 seconds to 1 minute), and move the salmon around in the sauce to evenly coat. Add sliced orange and cook for another minute or so.
- Remove from heat once the salmon is cooked to your liking.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Drizzle with the sauce to serve. Best served over rice, noodles, steamed vegetables or with a salad.

btw it doesn’t smell ‘fishy’ because when you put citrus (oj, lemon) on salmon it takes away the ‘fishy’ smell
