The Sunscreen Hack for the Easiest Application

No more greasy fingers or uncomfortable rubbing. Now, applying sunscreen is smooth and mess-free.

Last week, we shared our favorite sunscreens in this post. But, even if we find the best and most convenient, and as important as sunscreen is, when it comes down to it, it’s not fun to apply.

Kids squirm. They don’t like the feel of being rubbed. And we don’t like the feeling of greasy hands, no matter whether we’re applying it on ourselves or our children.

This hack changes that! At first we thought it was a bit gimmicky. But we were quickly convinced otherwise because once we tried it…there was no turning back. Using a flat-topped makeup brush to apply sunscreen gave us more accurate coverage and control (dedicate it specifically for this purpose). The sunscreen doesn’t get in your eyes–you can easily rub it under the eye and over the eye.

Kids don’t mind the feel of it. They actually appreciate that no one is touching and rubbing them. Plus: Your hands don’t end up dirty and sticky.

Now, the makeup brush stays right next to the sunscreen. Keep them together and you’ll see the sunscreen routine will be much more consistent!

This is the brush we used, but any flat top brush will work. Just keep it separate for this purpose.

my method is DO NOT RUB, ONLY DAB. i first dab it in spots, tiny blobs, everywhere i want it (face, arms, etc) and then just dab dab dab dab dab dab dab dab….add more if you need, but, at all costs, RESIST THE URGE TO RUB!!!! only dab!!! press it into your skin, dont smear it all around. no matter how white the sunscreen, it will eventually get absorbed into your skin this way. good luck

Love this! So smart. I hate applying sunscreen. I do this with my self tanner so that it goes on evenly and doesn’t leave my hands brown 🙂

Why not use sunscreen sticks ?! They are way easier to apply than using a brush.
Looks like a glue stick or deodorant stick depending on your local brands.
It’s actually a game changer for applying sunscreen to face and neck and ears for kids! And adults too actually.
Many many brands diff price points make these available on Amazon- elf. Shiseido. Sunbum. Neutrogena. Etc etc.
    find one your kid likes.
They will enjoy doing it themselves even!
    No need to rub in.
