All you need is a disposable pan and 9 minutes in the oven…and you have perfect peanut chews (and no pot to clean!)!
When we saw this on Chaya Sara’s page, we knew it was totally up our alley; perfect for the 9×13 series! So we asked Chaya Sara if she would share her cool peanut chews technique with all of you. Here it is! -BCP
Here’s an easy recipe that can be made on Yom Tov, for last-minute company, or for a last-minute Simcha. It’s not the recipe that drew me to it, but rather the method! Multi-task away!
After five minutes in the oven, you’ll be able to stir them.
Once they’re all added in, flatten out the top (this is easiest using a spoon sprayed with cooking spray).
Two minutes later, mix and spread until smooth.
- 1 cup peanut butter (we prefer crunchy!!)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 5 cups Rice Krispies
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped (or in cubes)
- ½ cup peanut butter
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Place the peanut butter, sugar and corn syrup into a 9x13, give it a quick stir and put it into the oven for 5 minutes.
- At this point it should be mostly melted. Remove from the oven and stir again, making sure to get the corners well. Then put back into the oven for another 2 minutes.
- Take the pan out of the oven. Stir well and add the Rice Krispies while stirring. Coat a large spoon with nonstick cooking spray to flatten out the top (you can also use a gloved hand).
- To top it off, place chocolate and dot the peanut butter on the top. Place in the oven for 2 minute or until chocolate is soft enough to spread. Smear and let cool.
- *Peanut chews can be frozen once sliced*

Sounds amazing!! Do you think we can make this a bit healthier like honey instead of corn syrup??
I actually make a similar recipe with honey (or maple syrup). And since its so addictive we found ourselves eating it even in the morning so I put half quick oats, half Rice Krispies.. for extra nutrients????

Love your modified version! I think it deserves a post on its own! 🙂
Contrary to popular thought honey is no healthier than corn syrup. To quote
Honey Isn’t Any ‘Healthier’ Than Corn Syrup. … Honey has basically the same effect on the body as high-fructose corn syrup, according to a new article in the Journal of Nutrition. The same goes for cane sugar, meaning all three sweeteners are essentially equal in terms of their effects on health.14 Sep 2015
I have subbed the corn syrup or honey for Light Agave. The taste is great, kids are happy and I *think* Agave is healthier.
I love the no pot version here. Thanks for posting.
I would also like to add that you can for sure omit the cup of sugar since the honey/corn syrup is more than enough.
Thanks for sharing this great recipe!
I always make only with honey.
How much honey? Do you skip the sugar too?
With only oats and honey, it would be O Henry bars. I’m sure it could also be made in the oven only.
how do quick oats get cooked? rice crispies dont need any cookin time
I made it with lotus biscoff spread instead of peanut butter for a peanut free version, was heavier but oh so delicious.
This concept is amazing, but I highly recommend you line your pan with parchment paper first. I made it and the peanut chews unfortunately stuck to the pan.
Does this work with all quick oats instead of Rice Krispies?
Any tricks to cutting to cutting the peanut chews?
Turn it onto a board and cut from underside ( cereal side) with a sharp knife, wiping it ckean between rows
These were great. I used malt o meal crispy rice because it’s gluten free. I think I will add salt and vanilla to the pb mixture next time. You can totally eyeball the amounts if you know what you’re doing.
