With nothing to prep ahead, this Affogato Coffee Dessert is one that you can prepare on the spot.
This is the perfect light ending to a meal. So much so that I find myself preparing it over and over again.
I originally thought to make this on Shavuos to give the men an extra boost of caffeine before going out to learn after a heavy fleishig meal.
The men had this with regular coffee, and the ladies enjoyed it with decaf.

It was so easy and so enjoyable. With nothing on my “ahead” to do list, this became our go-to Friday night dessert. Don’t we love those types of recipes?

And, I thought–with the hot coffee–this would also be perfect in the Sukkah.

Simply add the coffee and brown sugar to each serving bowl.

Add the hot water.

Then, add the ice cream and serve right away.

If serving a large crowd, prepare all the coffee before and leave it on blech, this way you can just pour it into the cups really quickly.
Want to make it a more complete dessert for company? It goes perfectly with chocolate cake. It’s the ideal complement.

is this an issue of bishul on shabbos
You can always just pour it into something in between to make this a kli shlishi and avoid all shaylos of bishul
Been serving this on Sukkos for quite a # of years, I like to serve it with pareve cheesecake. And yes, if serving more than 4-6 ppl I prepare it in advance and keep on the hotplate. I put the ice cream in first and pour the coffee over the top. Heaven in a cup!!
After I asked my opinion
several rabbis told me that it is forbidden to do this on Shabbat
And even in a third glass because it is מוליד
Would this not be like Ice cubes, which are permitted to be used on shabbos to be put in a drink, it’s not moilid as it’s melting in a liquid and you can’t really see the transformation?
