Don’t want to bake from scratch? Have a child that prefers something other than a classic cake (i.e. like chocolate chip cookies or Rice Krispie treats?) These birthday hacks are for you.
Last month, we showed you how to use a store-bought bundt cake (featuring the incredibly delicious “why bake when you can buy these” cakes from Evergreen’s bakery) to make adorable and fun birthday cakes without having to bake.
Here are a few more hacks to make your child feel special with minimal time needed in the kitchen on your part.
The Giant Cookie Cake You’ll need a few packages of store-bought frozen chocolate chip cookie dough (or triple chocolate cookie dough if you prefer that, or combine both!). This cake uses 36 cookie dough balls. Simply place them all in your baking pan and bake!
Use chocolate icing to decorate or write a message.
The Giant Cinnamon Bun Cake
Start with a store-bought pound of frozen pizza dough. Roll it out thinly into a rectangle. Spread with the filling from this cinnamon bun recipe (or any filling you like). Roll it up, jelly-roll style, then roll your log into a swirl as shown in the photo.
Bake and top with our cream cheese frosting.
The Rice Krispie Treat Cake
Do you have a child that loves Rice Krispie treats? Make it into a cake. It’s just as easy but way more special. Simply pour your Rice Krispie treat mixture into a springform pan. Then, while it’s still warm, press your sprinkles into the top and press down with a sheet of parchment or wax paper. You can also put sprinkles in a middle layer if you choose, or cover the whole cake with sprinkles (or chocolate chips, if you child prefers that). Unmold it from the springform and ta-da! It’s a Rice Krispie treat birthday cake.

My fondest birthday memories as a kid was rice crispy treat cake shaped into the number of the age we were becoming. My mother did it for years and it was so exciting! When the rice crispy mixture is warm it’s shape-able
