Lactation Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies will help support a mother’s milk supply, but they’re worth baking even if you’re not nursing…because they’re simply healthy and delicious!

Editor’s Note: We tasted these cookies at a Bikur Cholim women’s event, and enjoyed them down to the last crumb. They were a great, wholesome snack. As we schmoozed with Chanie Gelbwachs, renowned lactation consultant based in Lakewood, NJ we realized that many of our readers could benefit from such a treat. Chanie graciously shared the recipe with us. We halved the original recipe to make it more manageable, although Chanie recommended to bake the full amount and, “Bake it once, freeze it, and enjoy it until your little one starts walking!”

Hi. Just wondering if the coconut oil has to be used or can you sub for regular oil?

coconut oil is solid at room temperature so a closer sub would be margarine

I make these with 1 cup oil and no egg yolks. Delicious!! I also add milkflow/milkrush , it’s an amazing addition for nursing mamas in any food (smoothie , avocado toast…) but tastes so good in these cookies. I use one cup milkflow instead of flax/water and omit 1/2 c oats.
You can find it in healthfood store or Amazon.

I made these as squares, got 1 sheet pan. They’re great also for when I don’t have time to eat in the morning. I feel like at least I ate something that is helping me produce. I have always had a supply issue and BH since I started eating these I have not needed to supplement at all!
    Recipe Notes:
I found it easier to cream the eggs and sugar and then add the coconut oil and vanilla
When adding the dry ingredients, I mixed them in 1 at a time rather than adding them all at once to make sure they are well incorporated. Especially the brewers yeast

I made half this recipe since I wasn’t sure they would go over well but I wanted a healthy cookie to boost my supply. I now plan on making the full batch lol- my husband and kids love them too! I made it exactly as the recipe said, only I used honey glazed slivered almonds since that’s what I had on hand
