These tried and true feminine products might be everyone else’s secret. But we’re sharing them with you.
There have been many times that BCP has been lovingly referred to as “the big sister in your pocket.” Well, if that’s the case, we have some more big sisterly advice. The kinda stuff only a big sister can tell you and the kinda advice you know you better listen to because big sisters have been there and done that. Here are 6 feminine products we love and wish someone had told us about years ago.
- The only sanitary napkin you should ever buy. Why? Try it and you’ll understand.
- The most comfortable (and flattering!) panty out there. It’s one size fits all and, yes, some of us wore them through pregnancy so you know it works. Hey, we could all do without a daily reminder of what size we currently are. See here for the hipster version and here for the bikini version. There are many colors to choose from. They also come in a convenient 5 hipster pack for some savings as well.
- These slip shorts are great for preventing chafing in the summer and also for just smoothing you under a slinky skirt when you’re not wearing tights. If you’re looking for a little more added support these skimmies slip shorts are the next best thing. A reader suggested these for maternity.
- Don’t bother trying any other nursing pad. This is the one. They are incredibly soft for a disposable. And the pads have a honeycomb lining to pull away moisture and keep you dry even when you really should have changed to a fresh pad but had no time. Also, they are way thinner than other disposables. We know we don’t need any extra bulk.
- These gel pads are great too for those first days when nursing can be hard and painful. Nobody tells you how painful nursing can be, right? Well, these here will bring much-needed relief and help heal cracks.
- Do you sometimes keep your arms pressed down because you’re worried about sweat marks under your arms? Wanna be active but you’re afraid that you’ll sweat through your shirt? These disposable sweat pads are easy to use and will keep you looking fresh.
Editor’s Note: We’ve since added a Teen Edition to this post; Read it here!

Great post! Just started using the sanitary pads they are amazing. And of course the lansinoh. I’m excited to try the gel nursing pads after I give birth iy”H.
Rochel says
Yes, the infinity pads are awesome!
Just an FYI, I was allergic to the lansinoh nursing pads. Got terribly red, burning and itching. I thought I had thrush…turns out they were the culprit!

Thank you BCP for the sisterly advice again! These are great! I’m a big fan of the Lansinoh pads and the Soothies were a lifesaver more than once!
Keep the advice coming please! Maybe can you do a post about how to “know” what is in style…some ppl just “get” it and I don’t have that flair… or maybe advice on when to shop for new seasons, that kinda stuff would be great coming into a new shopping season now 🙁

This is amazing!
Can you please write a post on good and supportive sports bras?
R says
Love this post. The dress shields reminded me of the years I wore them, the daily struggle of wet arm pits. Until I found certain dri!! ( an anti perspirant) It’s a life saver!
Try it and thank me later.

FYI Chantelle has the panties on sale, if you buy 3, you save more on top of the discount…

Another vote for the diva cup. I started using it about 5 years ago and love it!
Ys says
I tried using the diva cup and it’s so uncomfortable. What am I doing wrong?

I personally hated the lansinoh pads. Love their cream and their milk storage bags, can’t stand their pads. I found that because the back is somewhat plasticky, i never felt dry, especially over night. That also made me more susceptible to itchiness and irritation. I much preferred the evenflo ultra thin ones, much more breathable

The gel pads are AMAZING! I found them when I had my first baby. I recommend them to new moms who plan to nurse all of the time. This is a great thing to tuck in a bag with a meal for a new mom.

I’ve tried the Lansinoh pads, but I found them to be much less absorbent than the Walmart brand (parent’s choice)
Hinda says
Nothing like silverettes when you nurse. Use t5hen as soon as you have the baby. First kid (#4) I had zero pain zero cracked or hurt nipples. Game changer and all non toxic!!! I want to tell the world about them:)

I have used driclor in the past for sweat, I have times when I am really sweaty. It’s a roll on and can be brought on Amazon, it really eliminates the sweat.

Anyone have any good products for leaking (like when you sneeze….) when expecting?
e.h says
pelvic floor therapy can help with that
B says
Try pelvic floor therapy with a PT (when expecting and after birth iy”H) to strengthen your muscles.
R says
Chava which is a branch from A Time, offers assistance in finding the right PT. https://www.atime.org/services/help-during-treatment-2/
