Join our “My Space” declutter challenge to bring a little more sense of calm and enjoyment to your day.
We know that big projects can be overwhelming. A few years ago, we launched the 30 Day Declutter Challenge here on BCP. For some of you, that was lots of fun and very accomplishing (if you want a whole house declutter guide, then go for it!).
Yes, it’s very pleasurable to have perfectly organized spaces in every nook and cranny of your home, but it’s not always in our control. Whether it’s the toy closet, a teen’s bedroom closet, or a husband’s desk….there are other people living in our houses too!

And so, our Declutter Challenge for winter 2025 has a new focus: on our personal spaces. We’re calling it the “My Space” Declutter Challenge. These are the spaces that are mostly ours alone, the little spaces that, when organized, can bring a sense of calm to our every day. They’re usually small spaces that are more manageable to keep organized. And, hopefully, no one else gets in the way and messes them up!
Download and print this chart, and stick with it day by day. Some of these tasks will only take you five minutes daily, and some won’t be relevant to you at all (use the day to finish a previous task that needs a bit more time or take the day off!).

Your Bedroom
This space should say “serenity” rather than “stress.” Clear out / put away any “stuff” that’s out in the open.
Your Nightstand
What do you really need by your bedside? What would you enjoy having here? Clear top of nightstand to essentials.
Your Hanging Clothing
Limit your hanging by the space you have. Everything else must go. Organize by simcha wear, Shabbos, everyday.

Your Folded Clothing and PJS
Donate or sell clothes you haven’t worn in the past year.
Your Accessories and Intimates
Toss ruined, stretched out or items you don’t wear. Limit to the draws/shelves you have.

Your Shoes
Throw out the worn out pairs, donate the good condition ones you no longer want, and take shoes that need repairs to the shoemaker.
Your Makeup
Toss and replace old makeup, clear out the colors you don’t like anymore, and clean/replace your makeup organizer/storage.
Your Bathroom
Clear the bathroom counter. Dispose of empty or expired products. Remove items that don’t belong in the bathroom.
Your Personal Paperwork
Sort through paperwork. Shred/toss unnecessary documents and organize important ones.

Your Purse
It helps to only use a really small purse! Otherwise, empty it out and be really selective about what you choose to carry around.
Donation and Returns Day
All those piles you created? Bags in your car trunk. Now is the time to take care of it instead of having it sitting around for the next 6 months!

I love this focus, it feels so fresh, i want to do this with you guys!
Thanks for this fun challenge! Another idea – I use an over the door shoe organizer for my beanies and scarves on my closet door since I don’t have an extra drawer. I have been using this system for a while now and I love it!
That is so smart! I’m always looking for a better way to store my tichels.
Amazing idea, any incentive ideas to get me started
This article is great! I’ve been doing the bcp challenge every year since you guys started it! I always thought I was a great declutterer but recently I starting reading “simplicity parenting” and it really explains the importance of less especially for our children. And it applies to all areas of our lives. Once you understand the importance it makes it much easier to declutter! It made me realize I was going thru the declutter process all wrong. And it’s been amazing since I’ve started REALLY declutter ing.
