If you have a food processor or mini chopper, this refreshing tomato salad/dip comes together in one whirl.
My 12-year-old niece, Suri Brier, made this salad for Shabbos and everyone loved it! (Yes, she’s 12! We don’t discriminate against kids! If a recipe is good, it’s good, even if it was created by a pre-teen).
The ingredients are super simple and you don’t need to cook a thing.
Just add all vegetables to the processor
and blend until finely chopped but not watery.
It’s so light and refreshing and it’s perfect for summer!
- 1 pint grape tomatoes
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 small or ½ jalapeno - chopped
- Handful of cilantro leaves - optional
- 2 tsp oil
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Fit your food processor with the S blade.
- Add tomatoes, jalapeno, garlic, and cilantro. Blend for 5 seconds.
- Stop, add oil and spices and blend for another 5-10 seconds until it's finely chopped but not watery.

Any way to get a similar effect with a hand blender??

Yes, it should work. I’ve been making a similar dip for years- tomatoes, jalapenos, garlic, olive oil and salt. You pulse it for a few seconds for a chunky salad, or you can blend it for longer, about 2 min for a smooth dip. Either way it’s always super popular.

This is how my family has been making tomato dip for years. We blend until it’s almost completely smooth but it’s so good!!
