Also, quite possibly, the most delicious ribs you’ve ever made too.
This is the type of recipe that you pop into the oven and forget about only to be reminded by the incredibly delicious aroma that will inevitably fill your house. These ribs are YUM!
This is the type of recipe that you will prepare again and again.
Also, this is the type of recipe that is elegant enough to serve Yom Tov and nobody needs to know how ridiculously easy that was.
- 3 pounds spare ribs (can also use flanken, but spares do plate prettier)
- 4 tablespoons onion soup mix
- 1 (40-ounce) jar of sweet and sour duck sauce
- ½ of the empty jar filled with water
- Preheat oven to 300⁰F. Place the ribs inside a 9x13 pan, side by side, not overlapping.
- Sprinkle with onion soup mix.
- Cover with the duck sauce, then the water (use the empty jar to measure out the water).
- Cover tightly and bake for 6-8 hours or even overnight.
- The meat is ready to be served. I like to let it cool and then refrigerate overnight so that I can remove the fat before rewarming and serving. But that’s optional.
Meat freezes well and rewarms well.
Can this recipe be used for a French/minute roast?
This is my go to recipe for many years on my chicken for shabbos. You can use apricot jam instead of the duck sauce for a thicker consistentsy. I’m definitely going to try on spare ribs! Thanks for this easy recipe
Wow, looks awesome!! Can I do this with a second cut brisket?
What suggestions do you have instead of onion soup mix or the msg free onion soup mix, they all have terrible chemicals and I don’t use them. Thanks
yeah i also don’t use that stuff (even though it’s delicious and honestly i think msg is totally fine. i just find it too expensive to buy and much too salty). a LOT of dried minced onion and onion powder and salt and pepper (and probably a bit of cornstarch or potato starch. there’s sugar in that stuff too but the other ingredients provide plenty of that) would be similar but you’d lose the umami from the msg.
Can I do this with boneless spare ribs?
Yes!
I used boneless and baked for 6 hours, it came out like bricks, so tough. Can someone advise how to adjust for boneless spare ribs????
Can this be made in a slow cooker?
Wondering the same thing. Did anyone ever make in the crockpot?
Insanely delicious and ridiculously simple! Thanks so much!!
How long do I cook for just 1 lb of boneless spare ribs?
