The tips of my husband’s shirt collars are black when they come out of the washing machine . Any idea what causes that and what to do about it?

I was just going to ask the same thing. Been missing this information and for the past ten years I can’t get my whites white. Also happens to cuffs.

I spray EVERY single shirt before putting it in the wash – color, underarm, and any other needed spots. I use Vanish Whites (I live in Israel) and find it works magic!

Its not regular dirt, its just the very tip (point) of the shirt collar that gets black. . Its not there when the shirt goes into the wash!

Are you sure its from the washing machine? Our white shirts get burned in the dryer, specificaly the tips of the collars. Or maybe from the hot water?

Try to use a color catcher. Maybe the shirt is picking up some leftover dye or dirt from a previous wash. I have started using a color catcher on all my loads!
