No more standing over a hot pan. This is the new way to prepare pancakes, “Betty Crocker” style.
One of the most commonly asked questions we get is, “What else can I make in my Betty Crocker?” In many Jewish homes the Betty Crocker Pizza Maker has become the number one small appliance. It replaced the sandwich maker, panini maker, toaster oven and toaster. In some homes it has even replaced the oven and stove! (I might be kidding, but this machine is really powerful.) For a longer explanation on why it’s the best small appliance read this post. You can also read here about why the Betty Crocker is perfect for traveling.
(Let’s clear up a common misconception: Betty Crocker is not the same as an air fryer. While both can cook all different foods, they operate differently. Betty Crocker is an all-in-one kitchen assistant that can perform a wide range of cooking tasks, whereas an air fryer specializes in crispy, low or no-oil frying.)
Many people like having a meat one and a dairy one. Buy one black one and one red one so you can easily tell them apart.
If you’ve only been using your Betty Crocker for dairy meals until now, once you get a second machine, you’ll be happy to know you can make many pan-fried or oven baked schnitzel recipes in the Betty Crocker. The garlic sesame baked schnitzel works great! Salmon also comes out delicious. We wrote a salmon recipe with specific instructions on how to cook it in the Betty Crocker. If you’re being on vacation over Shabbos make sure to read this post on how to bake kugel in the betty.
And If you think it’s too big and bulky to travel you can read here about the Betty Crocker’s little cousin.
We might be a little biased here…for a good reason! But seriously you can make pasta in this machine! K, now I’m really stopping.
Point: We’re trying to make things more convenient for you and this hack is no different. Do you know the feeling of standing over a pot flipping pancakes. Wish there was a faster way? This is the best way to make pancakes for a crowd.
Start with a bottle of frozen ready pancake mix. (Or make your own.)
Heat up the Betty Crocker for a few minutes. When it’s hot, spray it with oil. Don’t spray it and then heat up because the oil will burn and turn black.
Pour in a ⅓- ½ of the batter. We used a 32 oz bottle. So you can make 2-3 full size Betty Crocker pancakes.
Let cook until you see bubbles on top of the pancake.
Here’s the scary part. Lay down a towel and carefully, using oven gloves or a thick towel, flip over the entire machine. Wait a few minutes and flip back over.
Use a spatula to remove. Then repeat with the remaining batter.
Stack up your extra big pancakes and cut into triangles using a pizza cutter or knife!
